Those are standard equipment on the cop cars in my town. They use the rs232 card on one car for a camera setup. The car has cameras that can read licence plates and look them up on the fly. The car uses 4 cameras to scan every car within visual range of it.

This reminds me of laptops I worked on 8 years ago.

So - It looks like they took that bulkier design philosophy
and applied current day technology to it . . . neat! :-)

Dual battery for sure for hotswaping batteries on a go. Gpu to kill time with games possibly Finger/card reader to make sure no one gets my data to easly if it gets stolen. GPS with mobile device sure helps if you have to find that 1 time obscure location on time. But a better gpu and posilby cpu would be higher priority.

I really want this. I would run two batteries, GPU, upgrade the RAM and upgrade the existing M.2 drive if needed (for more capacity). And I'd probably get the IO module later if I needed it.

So glad to see Panasonic cares about things that actually matter, like modular batteries and storage. Please, other companies, consider this fine example.

Thin and light is not cool, useful, or interesting.

What does it do? That's what sells me.

The SSD is super easy to remove because at least in the U.S. Army we would have to pull the hard drives when they're not in use and lock them away in a vault because they hold classified information.

Got Mine!! OK - Those awesome quick release Drives - also PCI/NVMe enabled!! Panasonic doesn't advertise or sell this yet but I'm already using one as my primary drive (shhh). Look for sales of NVMe in their Mark II release later. Expect GPU upgrades too. We have used a fleet of toughbooks in our small business for years (industrial engineering/sales etc)- mostly CF-54s now. We have loved them all and in 10+ years of abuse have had none fail outright ... still...ever!
These are the best yet as were the CF-54s before them. Modular orders makes them cheaper for us too. We use both Ethernet ports, abusing them alot and while they can break this easy field swappable triport is cheap (~105).
FYI LTT - That screen privacy setting is deliberate - made for Night Vision. Custom gloved multi-touch settings... Yeah - Officers and Soldiers are a key demographic. Dual biometric auth and 40 hour battery life also comes in handy when somebody is targeting a drone strike from a concealed field location. Its a little hassle buying thru a third party, but understandable given the weight of government and law enforcement sales. With this winner however they have a laptop with a very broad appeal, albeit a little higher cost (above consumer/below Alienware). They could sell a whole lot more if they wanted to try consumer or even security conscious BYOD enterprise marketing.
                                                              Its my favorite laptop yet.

                                                                  • Jorge Luis Martinez Gomez

"Don't remove both of them. That would cause it to turn off."

Are you sure? Some Panasonic toughbooks come with a small internal battery that lasts some 5 minutes specifically for when you want to hotswap the battery.

I have tried multiple techniques. i.e. Press and hold power + Volume Up which brings me to Windows Boot Manager boot Failed. Also Press Power Button for approx 2.5 seconds, and quickly press power button again before Linx logo appears so that it shut's down again.I DON'T get the spinning dot's as it's supposed to so that I can get to the reset screen. I have even created several bootable USB with Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10. They all show up on my tablet but UNABLE TO BOOT UP FROM THEM. They all work in my laptop but not on my Linx Tablet. I even used a keyboard (Not Wireless) pressed F7 + ESC, while booting up. Tried SHIFT key while booting up. Please, Please, Please, can you help me. I'm at my whit's End. The screen is perfect + No water damage and everything seem's fine except I can't use my Tablet.

And some of the weird things like quick release drives and the privacy screen make a lot of sense in the military. You can switch a computer from a classified enclave to an unclassified network that has internet access if you swap out the drive. Also say you need a bunch of clients to run an application for a class or something and the next week there's a different class on an application. You can store drives configured for each usage and just swap them in and out depending on the class. It can come up alot depending where you're at in the military.

                                                                            • Jared
