Back in May of 2013 my 96 Maxima was near the end of her life (280k miles) and my mechanic told me it was time for a new car. At that time the only thing that I knew about cars was what I read in annual car edition of Consumer Reports. Toyota's in general always got high marks in this magazine. I did not go on YouTube much. I knew nothing about Scotty's channel or any any car channels. So I ended up getting a new 2013 Camry SE (identical to the one in this video). It is now 6 years and 79k miles later. This is my review from my own personal experience with the car from having it for the past 6 years. Pros: Good on gas. Hugs the road well. Looks good (I got the attitude black with the back interior). Cons: seats are very uncomfortable. Engine has no real power (4 cycl - 170hp) especially when car has passengers or when tank is full. Not roomy at all. No leg space (I am only 5' 8"). It drives real ROUGH on the road (suspension is real stiff. If you hit a pothole you better hang on for your life). The body is real flimsy (the same thing that happened in the video with the front fender happened to me). And the paint job on car was cheap (I had to have my front bumper repainted because the paint is so cheap when the small rocks hit it, it chipped the black paint off. I had to replace the "new tires" at 36k miles (low rolling resistance tires - they totally wore out even thou they were rotated every 5k miles) and I had to replace the rotors at about 45k miles (turns out they manufacturer them real thin now). For those of you who are wondering I am a conservative driver (i work 20 minutes from home). I don't do any fast starts or don't abuse it in anyway. And I do my own maintenance. I am sure there are those are out there who have had a totally different experience than mine. But I just thought i would share. Best - Max

No sore necks, no sore backs but dirty clothes and shoes from that volcano ash interior and engine bay. Worked as a Porter for years and the worst car ever belonged to a hoarder, stuffed full of paper, debris and food. The car was so bad it had mice (and a smell of death) - man that thing went straight to the wholesaler because we wouldn't touch it. People clean your cars!

AR-FE 2.5L 4 cylinder engine had a recall, got a letter in the mail from Toyota. There is an issue with an actuator that moves the camshaft that knocks upon cold start. Very unnoticeable at first, but as it ages, the problem and noise increase. Besides that, I found it to be a well designed engine. It made good power, and I never experienced any oil burning like the previous engines did.

Scotty, we've owned an 2012 Camry JUST like this one since new. We are approaching 150K mostly trouble-free miles. Toyota did issue a service bulletin for a ECM software glitch which damages the torque converter. We were not notified of this TSB until after it ended, and began experiencing transmission slipping. Toyota determined the faulty torque converter was the result of the ECM glitch. They decided to replace the entire transmission free of charge, outside of the TSB! We couldn't believe it. It's imperative that you buy a 2012-2014 Camry which has had the ECM update!

This thing is bulletproof, somewhat zippy to drive (as zippy a midsize sedan can get), and pretty comfy. I'd give it a 9.25/10 and would buy another Camry of the same generation if the one I have ever got totaled or something.

Not sporty yet it had such an uncomfortable harsh ride and rattles worst than a 10 year used car. Traded it in a heartbeat.
