I’m sure they put more $$$ into this car than it’s worth. Beautiful job though.

Thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts. Budget is always a factor in any build what makes sense to one person might not always make sense to another.

Ahah I get it no worries. After all they do share engines ! Great job nonetheless. Rovers are special cars. I've had my P38 for 10 years now, it's part of the family.

A Land Rover can be both your friend and your worst enemy. The cost of ownership is something most logical people do not comprehend. Mine is a 2005 LR3 SE. I've paid more money to keep it on the road than is necessary. But the bond between Larry Rover and myself is priceless. I call it my Fix-Break-Fix mobile. But given the chance to own a new Discovery, I would choose mine. I love my truck more than my lovely wife sometimes. Larry and I will never part. Land Rover, Go Anywhere, as long as you have the money and a touch of mental illness.

I'm curious how much a rebuild on my 03 would cost just engine wise and drivetrain with flanged inserts etc... I love this car to death as it's my first car but I'd like to do some preventative maintenance so she lasts me for a long long time!

My father bought a disco 2 in 2001 and my wife drives it now after he upgraded to the disco 4 and it's been a great car. My wife loves it and after 17 years it holds many memories from collecting both my children after birth from hospital to taking us on our honeymoon.
We've been all over Europe in her and it's always delivered us in comfort and safety and got us home!
My eldest will be driving in 3 years time so there might be 3 generations of ownership, he's got his eyes on my county station wagon but he won't be having that!

I have a 99 that I've owned for 17 years, and this is something I would love to have done. Just need to win the lottery. It's never let me down great video. I've owned two DIs but my 99 D2 was the first vehicle I bought new and paid off, so many trips and memories. I will never get rid of it because it's red and you hardly see that color anymore.

I wanted one of these for years and when the 2003 facelift came I was ready to buy one... but could not. You see these vehicles are not made well and are very unreliable. I purchased a car instead that lasted 11years before I got rid of it. When it was finally time to get a rough and tumble truck, I chose the Lexus LX450 (FZJ80). I still have a crush on this vehicle's looks but it is too small inside and built with the wrong motor and transmission. They would have to replace that crap 1960's buick v8 with a diesel, toyota or chevy v8.. along with many other parts that are known to break far too often on these poorly made but attractive vehicles.

actually, if you stay on top of routine maintenance like you should instead of just throwing gas in it and expecting it to run forever, they are very reliable vehicles.

my 04 has 155k on the clock, only repair except fluids/brakes/tires was 1 head gasket job at 110k.
my 06 LR3 is at 94k with no repairs needed yet. Just did a fluid/filter change on the tranny, xfer case and diffs the other weekend (2 hours in the driveway)

Interestingly enough, we have Land Rovers in our shop dating back all the way to the 1950's that are still going strong with proper care and maintenance. Currently the 2003 in our shop has 250,000 miles on it, looks new and still going strong.
