I was in a manga con cosplayed as a Pokemon and chatting nicely to a guy in the same queue at a Nintendo Game Stand when his friend came. He was trying to guess my cosplay since it was a Pokemon from gen 5 (Mienshao). He though it was Miltank but it "discarted that because there were no tits" and proceed to hit me (not to srtong) in the chest. Didn't know how to react and just felt uncomfortable so I left as soon as I could.

About a year ago I went to a anime con and I cosplayed Ash kechtum from pokemon (personally my favorite anime besides My hero) I was 14 and this girl who had to be 16 or 17 was cosplaying as misty walked up to me and complemented my costume and asked for a picture. We talked for a bit and she seemed nice enough but then she showed me all the Ash x Misty porn she had on her phone. She then whispered in my ear " I'll be your misty if you be my ash" then I kid you not she licked my ear. At this point I was kinda uncomfortable so I excused my self and power walked away.Lets hope I dont get sexually assaulted this year.

My first con, I went as Happy from
Fairy Tail and some older guy dressed as Natsu called me. We ran towards each other and hugged. His wife was dressed as Lucy and it was actually kinda nice, I only cringe cause I now hate Fairy Tail. Also, I kept hitting ppl with my wings

I went to an anime con, met there with my friends, to my surprise one of them is cosplaying Miguel from Coco , one girl literally asked him for a photo and basically stole him from me and my other friend, very awkward. She almost put him under her arm and they left for a bit until cosplayer noticed we weren't following and turned back , he was very awkwarded out xD

I took my hamster Pollux to cosplay dressed as superman for the pets section. Some idiot opened her cage while my back was turned and she went for a walk in the grounds. So told the organisers and several cosplayers, including Thor, the wicked witch of the west, Mary Poppins, the incredible hulk and captain America helped me look for her. We eventually found her and took her home, none the worse for her two hour excursion.

honestly some ppl who ask for photos are so weird. I was dressed as yuno gasai last year and a couple ppl would come up ask if they could take a pic. Before I could say sure, they take a pic of me and just leave. no thanks or anything. *shrugs* oh well

Cons are fucking horrible now. Sexual harassment is a major issue. Just because a girl is dressed up like a character that is rather exposed doesn't mean it's okay to touch her.

that was surprising to hear about Deadpool cosplayers! At the con I go to every year here in AZ, Saboten Con, the Deadpools are usually really funny and in character but like in a chill respectful way. sad that it's not like that usually....

So thankful I haven't had to deal with sexual harassment at cons. Wearing a powerful villain's costume (and a guy's costume), AND carrying a weapon that could actually leave a serious welt tends to deter that sort of thing. ;-)

                                                          Cringiest interaction at a con?

Bruh. I've attended several furry conventions. There's so much cringe. So instead I'll share one of the best interactions I've witnessed. Some guy was dressed in an off-the-shelf yellow duck costume complete with a loud quack squeaker and allowed people to draw on his costume with a black marker. Someone drew huge angry eyebrows on his duck head and he went around the hall quacking aggressively at people.

There was this girl, about my age who was dressed as an AU of sans, Underswap I think? She was swearing an oversized scarf and flower crown and the moment she saw me she got super excited. And I mean really excited, she starting screaming "HUMAN" over and over as she ran towards me. I was pretty scared so I was just frozen as she tackled me and then picked me up and dragged me to her group, they were all also wearing flower crowns and skeletal face paint. She started screaming again, "LOOK FELL I CAUGHT A HUMAN!" something along those lines. She was surprisingly strong but I managed to break free from her and I ran as fast as I could. You'd think that would be the end of it but nope, she decides to chase after me. I was fucking terrified and just kept running. I managed to lose her eventually. To this very day anytime I go to a convention and see anyone dressed as Sans with a flower crown, even if I'm not in costume I try to stay as far away as possible.

At a recent convention in Baltimore, I decided to go as Red Dead 2's Arthur Morgan in Arthur's stock warm weather clothes; the blue cotton shirt, suspenders, boots with the spurs, even a reproduction of Arthur's gunbelt with holster and separate, clearly fake, wooden rubber band revolver, always unloaded, as well as everything else for the cosplay. One part of the cosplay that did seem a little out of place was Arthur's silk (?) scarf, odd to have during the summer, but it was part of the stock outfit, so it went with it.

Anyways, while the people at the convention who recognized Arthur were all awesome, kind, and respectful, my experience on my way to get lunch on one of the last days kinda pulled down the whole mood of the weekend a lot. Baltimore is known to have some colorful personalities throughout the city, and I was unfortunate enough as to run across some of these types in the form of snotty 8-10 year old kids as I was walking solo to lunch as I had fallen behind my group of friends. As I am walking past, minding my own business, as I have learned to not look for trouble, especially when dressed as an outlaw, I hear from just behind me in one of those snide, condescending tones "Why you dressed like that?" I turned and responded to the young kid that it was a cosplay for fun at the convention. One of his friends chimed in, also in that sort of insulting, condescending tone "Why you wearin a scarf? It warm out here" (not mistyping that, that is what I was asked verbatim). I again responded with a brief explanation that it was all part of the costume and that while a little warm, it wasn't unbearable. What really made things the most uncomfortable was when one kid not only asked, but started walking towards me as if to take it from the holster directly "Is that a real gun? Lemme see it, I wanna hold it." It was at that point that I really just wanted to GTFO, so I quickly responded that no, it wasn't real, it was just a rubber band gun. That didn't satisfy the kid, as he kept walking closer, demanding to see it and hold it. I had just passed a couple Baltimore cops standing not 30 feet behind me on the sidewalk, and being that I was hungry, late to meet up with my friends, was carrying what could have been perceived to them as an actual firearm, and wanted to avoid confrontation as much as possible, I just said no, not doing that, and fast walked away from the small grouping.

Needless to say, while I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the convention, particularly all the time spent as Arthur, I will NEVER be walking more than a block away from the convention center without a full group of friends while in cosplay ever again. Sometimes it isn't just those you encounter at a convention that can ruin the fun, but sometimes just the unfortunate encounters outside the convention when just so much as trying to get lunch.

Not my cringiest moment but one of the rudest moments I saw. I went to colossalcon 3 years ago dressed as Doll from black Butler waiting for the black Butler photoshoot to start. The person hosting (a Sebastian cosplayer) it was late and everyone standing around was starting to get restless so a Grell cosplayer took it over and had everything running smoothly. Near the end of the photoshoot however, the Sebastian finally shows up and instead of being greatful that someone else decided to make sure their photoshoot happened they decided to yell at the Grell cosplayer until she cried.

Another moment that comes to mind was when I decided to go to a Hetalia 'ask the nations' panel and a girl asked an Austria cosplayer if he'd be okay being in a room alone with France and after saying yes the girl then continued to add "even if he is trying to rape you?" And suddenly I remembered why I don't like the Hetalia fandom and don't associate with them anymore.

And the worst part about it is that if a white or light skinned cosplay cosplayed someone of a different race or of darker skin, it’d be fine.

Some people also use cosplay as a way to justify blackface or skin bleaching as well. I understand using a summer foundation (a foundation you use when you get a tan) but that’s way different. Sexual Harassment, sexualizing minors, the over-sexualization of cosplayers, racism/colorism, and body-shaming is very much in the community.

I was just walking to get food with my friend and some voice just screams out ‘HUNTER’ in the most deep Dublin accent. I turn around and this dude is on his own pointing a rifle at me and giving me the most uncomfortable stare down. I expected for him to say something but he just stood there aiming. I wasn’t gonna do some hunter acting or anything because it was a fully packed floor and I was holding a massive can and my wallet so I just ask him what’s up. He then acted like the gun recoiled and went ‘BOOOOOOOOSH’, my friend, who had never attended a con before and wasn’t cosplaying just stared, almost about to laugh. I kind of stumble just so I can kind of play along and also try get to the room with the food just inches from me. If he left it there it would have been fine or normal but then he goes ‘or otherwise...’ and I shit you not drops the gun and starts screaming bloody murder, in the middle of a hall. He starts gyrating like i was ripping him apart and falls on the floor still struggling with himself and screaming. At that point I just go ‘yeah, bye’ and get in to the only place I wanted to be. Everyone else who recognized me was really cool about it though.
