  • Game of Thrones’ final season has begun and many fans are wondering what will be the fate of their favorite (and not so favorite) characters. The White Walkers have begun their horrible march to Winterfell and beyond so many of the people we have followed for 7 seasons might be meeting their untimely deaths. One of the ways, these characters can avoid death this season is by using their Valyrian steel weapons to fight off the White Walkers. The question is in all the confusion over these last 7 seasons and going into season 8, you might have forgotten who has what sword, dagger and Dragonglass weapon. Well, don’t worry. In this video, John Rocha with an assist from Dave Trumbore of Collider.com tracks down all the Valyrian steel weapons we have seen on the show and who is currently in possession of them. The video also looks at who might be best qualified to build weapons out of that precious Dragonglass natural resource.

Let us know if we missed anyone with a Valyrian steel weapon in the Comments section below. Remember to Like and Share this video on your social media and to Subscribe to Collider for more Game of Thrones videos just like this one.

I’m no blacksmith but with my experience with forged engine parts it drives me insane seeing them “forging” which in reality open top casting swords in movies and TV shows.

That’s not how it works....like at all.

There is no evidence of this, however, I think Valyrian Steel is an amalgam that contains Dragon Glass. That is why it can kill White Walkers and their king.

GoT took the ''Reign of Fire'' approach to dragons, the fire comes from chemicals fired from two glands which then ignite when exposed to air. Dragonfire is therefore not magic. Valyrian steel, it seems to me, is just high carbon folded steel with few impurities and while this is a recipe for a great weapon, it doesn't explain how it kills white walkers.

I was a bit annoyed by the scene when Tywin melted down Ned Stark’s greatsword called “Ice” and created two smaller swords, Oathkeeper and Widow’s Wail. I know we have to accept plot shortcuts in films of entertainment, but even in the fictional storyline that would not be possible. Valyrian steel, according to the books, was a lost ancient forging process. You can’t just melt one down and create another. It’s like saying you are going to melt down a high quality Japanese Katana/Samurai sword and pour it into a mold and make another one. In both cases, the secret is the forging process.

Why are so many people saying it’s made with dragon glass. It’s not. Not at all. Jeez!!!!

Can't understand what this guy says, mumbles and talks fast. And there was no clash of Valyrian steel as Brienne was using a practice sword. Notice the rounded tip? And it's not French, so it's pronounced More-Mont, not More-mond.

                                      Peter Matthews  7 months back

It's always been obvious that Dragonfire was crucial to the forging process. The forging of the Iron Throne is one of the founding myths of a unified westeros. The responsive, intuitive way sitting on the Iron Throne has been described is consistent with how people describe fighting with Valyrian Steel which does not need to be sharpened.

What if Valerian steel is made by mixing castle forged steel with dragon glass, and heated by dragon fire? Just a thought.

Wouldn't it be great, almost like poetic justice, if they had to melt the iron throne to get more Valyrian steel?
