In your working lifetime, you will spend more money on transportation than anything else but housing.  That's right; more than (money pit) housing,  a money-burning spouse or children, education....  I've learned the hard way.  So buy the best dependable used car you can afford, pay cash or get your own financing, and drive it as long as you can depend on it.  I have a 1994 Camry and a 2007 Lexus.  My Camry is now my "beater" - I take care of it.

Great tip about the spark plugs.. in a pain in the butt / hard to get to car..... Use the best plugs you can afford. This way you won’t have to worry about them for a long long time.

Hey Scotty I have a 2015 fiat 500 pop the engine fan isn’t working I put a new fuse in as so as ac kicked in it blew it again someone told me I could run a wire from fan to battery with a switch inside to turn it on and off is that a good idea until I can get it changed out ?

Scotty! We love ya man, but have you been inhaling those shop fumes again? Show me where I can get a Fiat 124 Spider "Dirt Cheap!" So I can stock pile them. A 2017 Fiat 124 Abarth (one up from basic model) with 27,500 miles has an asking price in my area of $19,350 plus a buncha fees and taxes. KBB Very Good value for that spec Fiat 124 is at $17,589. KBB Very Good value for a 2017 Mazda MX-5 Club (one up from basic model) with 27,500 miles is $17,379. If the 124 is dirt cheap, then the MX-5 is cheaper than dirt!

7:22 I changed my 2002 Toyota Tacoma with 74,000 mi. to the NGK (original brand) Iridium plugs and my fuel economy is 10% better now. The old, original copper plugs were 17 years old and definitely fouled up because of the city driving. The $40 investment saves me $4 per tankful -- more than paying for itself. FYI, NGK's Ruthenium plugs uses both rutnenium and also platinum.

Maybe mines the exception, but my 2007 S80 V8 AWD has 200k miles and my wifes 2008 S80 T6 has around 150k miles and they are going strong. Granted my car is all made in Japan(Yamaha engine and Asin tranny) and my wifes is all Swed, but I didn't know about them being bought by China, I was thinking about getting a 2019 hybrid version. First off most aftermarket "chinese" plastic switches tell you on them max amprage usually 10A-15A if its normal size small are 5a or 7a thats what you fuse them to NOT 25A. Thats why his melted! & when you use a relay always fuse in & out aswell as look up on youtube choochoo trains ill have a video on 1 soon!

Scotty! I just bought my very first vehicle. It's a 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 quad cab with 4 wheel drive and a 5.7 Liter V8 engine with 126k miles on it. I am going to be doing a lot of hauling and quite a bit of pulling even though it's not going to be really heavy stuff. Plus it'll just be locally (within 50-100 miles) should I keep the truck or buy a Toyota?! 😆 cant believe I am saying it!
Also, my brother in law is a certified Diesel mechanic and works on it for free and teaches me stuff too. I dont know if he'll be able to do quite as much, just in case, with a Toyota. What do ya think?
I paid $6k for it and am going to fix it up nice and drive it forever unless my line of work changes and I could sell it. I figure it could bring 8-9 grand if its flawless with 150k-170k miles on it in a couple years.

My son bought a 80's Camaro Z28...he bought it for 4500, and spent thousands more trying to keep it running...it's gone now...sold at a great loss...got him a 2001 Honda Civic manual transmission...has never had a problem getting where he wants to go.

Within the first few seconds of watching this I started thinking about euthanasia. Would it be kinder? I think so. Certainly for this chap.
