@hendy d with the engine off people would use a bar of soap to fix squeaky belts only a temporary fix, belt dressing most say is a waste of money it could be, that spray might be like hair spray actually i wonder now. just like PB blaster is Kerosene and light weight oil mixed.

@Matt Peso PB blaster is actually better and all it is is kerosene and motor oil mixed together, Kroil is the best one you can buy but it is a dangerous lubricant it pollutes but whatever you put it on will never rust again for the price of a can it better never rust again lol

Soap use to be good for squealing serpentine belts. Lithium grease is good for door hinges. Don't ever use WD-40 on bicycle chains, it draws dirt, and it actually degreases the chain. Use chain lube with wax, it repels dirt and grime, while it lubes.

Been using it for 50 years on locks he says? I say never too late to learn to do it right! lol. But really, the reason we don't use "wet" lubricants on lock parts is because they attract dust which harms the finely tuned tumbler/pins by changing the alignment. Yes you could re apply enough of it to wash this dust away, but you created the need for it where there was none before. Dry lubricants, like graphite, don't collect dust and still keep things moving properly. It's not better, just more suited to the application. Also dust (collected by application of WD 40) is electrically conductive, even if the product itself is not... consider that when spraying it all over your delicate electric components. Having said that, for most other applications, knock yourself out. :)

Avoid clear plastics and anything made from latex or any natural rubber.

As a solvent, know that it will thin out grease- which can be beneficial in some cases, but too much and you wash away your lubricant.

Also Teflon/silicone lube is a Godsend and white lithium lube is the Devil.

And I’m not too sure that they claim specifically that it is. I’d use an actual rust inhibitor, like maybe WD-40 SPECIALIST corrosion inhibitor.
