Dude, I'm not a farmer and know little about country life, (but we do have 83 acres in a rural county, mostly forested), but I do find your videos interesting and informative. Your sense of humor and overall positive outlook help a lot. God Bless you and your family.

What did he say politically that offended you? I didn’t hear anything political, except being at Nancy Pelosi’s house which was pretty funny.

@Millennial FarmerExcept the title, oops. Again, as a general rule, please keep your politics and religion out of the videos.

Ethanol is good to the farmers and bad for our gas mileage and the cost of the fuel that we are forced to purchase at gas stations through out America. Take away the ethanol mandate and 95+% of your business would disappear shortly there after. You could not afford that very expensive equipment without the mandate that forces me the consumer to buy fuel that I don't want and is harmful to my vehicles. Sad!

Just what I thought, Pelosi didnt have time for you. BTW, cover crop by air will germinate without tillage, especially on a wet year like this.

I'm allergic to Soybeans, sometimes life threatening, but not allergic to corn, but there are times I have had mild allergic reactions to corn, hives, itching, mild throat swelling, that requires Benadryl or prescription such as Zyrtec, but no ER or having to use my Epipen. Doctors have asked me if the corn I was eating was near Soybeans or cross pollination with Soybeans. I had no idea, till now.

got a flexfuel 5.0 F-150, would love to run E85 in it... closest pump in my area is 20 mins away. with the lower mileage (I'd lose about 2MPG) it's not worth the effort. >=(

The main skill of these mega farmers is milking the American taxpayer. No wonder they love the orange fraud in the white house so much. He buys their votes with welfare payments, and they cheer him on as he trashes the country. For the tens of billions of dollars above their usual payoffs that dotard is giving them at least these guys should be subject to drug testing like other welfare recipients.

After spreading moisture in the soil induces calcium cyanamide to convert over several intermediate stages into fertilizing lime and plant-accessible ammonium nitrogen. In the first partial reaction calcium cyanamide is converted into lime and cyanamide. The intermediate product cyanamide is then converted via urea fully into plant-accessible ammonium. Contrary to widespread opinion when calcium cyanamide converts no poisonous cyanide gas is produced that might leak from the soil. What is produced is actually cyanamide, which remains in the aqueous soil solution and which is responsible for the special effectiveness of the calcium cyanamide.

The decomposition of calcium cyanamide in soil:
A part of the cyanamide reacts further into dicyandiamide (DCD). This DCD has nitrification inhibitory properties, i.e. it delays the conversion of the ammonium nitrogen into nitrate that is caused by certain soil bacteria (Nitrosomonas and Nitrobacter).

                                                                    Schema of nitrification:

Dicyandiamide inhibits soley the activity of the Nitrosomonas bacteria, and not that of Nitrobacter. This means that no plant-damaging nitrite can accumulate in the soil. Generally speaking, calcium cyanamide converts in the soil via two phases:

                                                                    Reaction phase and fertilizing phase

During the reaction phase calcium cyanamide delivers its many additional effects. This phase continues for between 8 to 14 days in the soil depending on reaction conditions. The reaction rate depends on the moisture, temperature and activity of the soil, its humus content and the quantity of fertilizer applied.

It should be emphasized that no harmful residues remain in the soil after the phytosanitary special effect of the calcium cyanamide. The cyanamide is completely transformed into urea, thereby improving the nitrogen nutrition of the plants. The nitrification inhibitor dicyandiamide also slowly decomposes into urea. This means that in the end everything is made available as a nutrient to the plants in the form of nitrogen and lime, with no non-soil decomposition products formed.

                                                                    Nitrogen efficiency
Calcium cyanamide – providing an even and sustained supply of nitrogen to your plants
The nitrogen bound in the calcium cyanamide is not directly available to the plants.

Ammonium (NH4), which can be taken up by plants directly through the roots, is only produced when the fertilizer is converted in the soil. With calcium cyanamide the further conversion of ammonium into nitrate nitrogen (=nitrification) is delayed (= inhibition of nitrification). This means that fertilizing with calcium cyanamide ensures that the crop is supplied with a nitrogen nutrient that has a strong ammonium emphasis and which is physiologically beneficial to the plants.

Unlike nitrate, which is easily movable in the soil solution, ammonium is bound to soil colloids (clay minerals). Therefore ammonium is not washed out, even during heavy precipitation, and can be absorbed by the plants gradually.

The gradual release of ammonium nitrogen from calcium cyanamide and the inhibition of nitrification cause the nitrogen to be evenly supplied to the plants over a long period of time. The result is a harmonious and healthy growth of the crop.

perlka why dont ju juc itt

Life changing experience for me. We plant cover crops immediately following corn and soybean south central WI. This last spring, as we all know, was a wet and late start to planting. I "planted green" corn into 2' rye grass mix covercrop. Followed by a burn down within a week. Corn looks amazing so far. goal is to mimic nature as close as I can as a farmer. Why I truly believe in cover crops and Inter-seeding...let nature do the work for you

Iowa however gets a great government subsidy for all the corn it produces for ethanol that super unleaded is cheaper than both ethanol and regular! Glad I live out there 80% of the year!

Got 80 acres we put in prevent plant, uneven corn, & bean fields that were I fight to get a crop to come up. Was getting too much rain with limited windows of field activity. Now we're getting almost too much heat & limited rain. 2019 is turning into a fight for us. Sorry if that comment seemed harsh, but just very fed up with 2019.

South eastern MN and eastern Iowa looked good to me. Southwestern MN and eastern SD are terrible. I'm sorry to hear about the terrible luck in your area.
