And just to let you know the orig caps are just sick.. Keep them man :)
Hay man. That thing needs a new different head. Just find anther head and be done with it.... For that I am sure that you can find a head somewhere. broadly cheep.. The head that you have is junk .Com-on Mustie Do it right.. Just saying...
Why not just cut the inner lip off the fender in the rear and weld it to give yourself a little extra clearance for those sweet wheels and tires you have? Seeing you install the mag wheel nuts brought back fond and hateful memories of my 1982 Dodge Ram 1500 Van with a 225 slant six with 4 on the floor manual. Thanks for that, it brought me back to my high school days.
Please shut off the torch before each application of PB Blaster
One technique I used to get rusted screws, nuts, and bolts loose on vacuum cleaners was to heat them up and then spray them with PB Blaster. The PB Blaster will wick up the threads and crack the rust loose. It might take two or three times of using this technique to get those stubborn bolts loose
Takes me back to my first car in '73,a '61 Falcon with the 144 six and Fordomatic, even put a carb similar to yours on it at one time, think it came from a '64 Econoline van.
your manifold video was the best, why disable the comments?
too many nasty comments,
The lighting is much better!
Wow, a flash back..my first van was a a '65 ford Falcon window van, had the 240 6 cyl. I put a 289 in it when I was 16. Sadly a VW beetle and a bad driver made a left in front of me when I was doing 55..I went right thru the windshield ( nlo seat belt on luckily) and that bus type steering wheel was pushed right back into the drivers seat. My NEXT ride was a '66 Galaxy 500, I WANTED something with a HOOD out front..LOL
Love the vids Mustie..thanks man.
Looks like a lot of work to fix all that rust. Knowing Mustie1 he gets it done.
It's weird how he has comments disabled for the other video. First time for that. Someone must of been a douche. Lol
@Mustie1 That's really unfortunate. The comments and observations and tips are, for the most part, helpful and often entertaining. It is disheartening to see it stopped. I hope it's only temporary. Please don't let it alter your style in any way.
quite a few were,
Please keep the rims.. It looks nice.. Very nice.. Just change the tire if that's possible..
Mustie1 get a decal printer and you can make your own gaskets. With the cutouts and holes.
Where did you get the lug pattern gauge sets?
I'm not sure why you turned off the comments in the 3rd video. But having owned a 65 Falcon Ranchero from 1977 to 1990, you may want to get that head magnafluxed, those heads are notorious for cracking either on the intake manifold part in the middle of the carb or where the exhaust manifold bolts in the center. In 13 years I had 2 cracked heads. I would look at dumping the 170 CU inch and go to the 200 CU inch. The 200 has the same head / intake manifold configuration but is not prone to cracking like the 170. Not picking just telling you of things I had happen with my 170.
Buy ya some straights and some elbows and build ya a exhaust manifold. It's cheap and you can make it how you want 👍
Turbo!!!!!!!!!!
I'm amazed you haven't soaked down that carb with Gumout spray first...
Merry Christmas Mustie , thanks for all your content :)
Those wheels look fab made for that truck we call them ross style wheels in the UK i had a set on my 70s cherokee jeep with big bfgs on all terrain they just seem to match any vehicle you put them on plus they clean up nice.
A nice solid lifter 351 windsor should wake the lil pick up up!!
enjoyed the vid
Wouldn't that carb jet push out from its detent on the inside of the intake just like a snowblower carb?
The fuel inlet fitting, there's probably a fiber or plastic washer in the kit that fits between the carb body and brass colored nut if it leaks again, another great video!
I like the wheels. Reminds me of a hotwheels !
Rustoration. Perfection.
Love your channel.
With the pumps I put so petroleum jelly to keep the rubber soft
Even if you live in Alaska I think that still would qualify as a surf truck. The paint scheme is sweet.
My 80 malibu came with a set of those halibrand mags, wish they didn't disappear on me!
Stick with the big ones....put extended lugs & a 1/2" spacer or two.
I would see if they make a different manifold so that you could put twin deuces on it.
that runs grate foe a old girl
Get an old GMC gastank that goes behind the seat or one for a Willis Jeep that goes under the driver's seat and relocate the fill to the front
Lovveeeee this project!!!
Those wheels look amazing,. Also those old I6 ford truck motors were indestructible..
Possible cheap upgrades?
Rear is the older ford 7.5in rear, the 8.8 from an 86 mustang GT should be a direct swap if you want posi trac, you can also get a later model 300 from the F series trucks if you want to stick with the i6 and get some cheap additional power, or stroke this thing with parts from the 300. You could also 302 swap it, but i would look for an 85GT motor, they are roller tappet, forged internals, with the carb, the 86 goes to a roller cam but was efi. They all are forged internally till 91 when they changed to cast pistons. The manifolds from the factory were pretty restricted, just putting after market intake and exhaust manifolds will wake up that i6 Offenhauser makes the 4bbl conversion intake with ported and polished runners, it makes a big difference in how these older i6 engines run.. sorry for any misspelled words..
How sabout instead if dropping in as 302, 289, consider a Ford Ecoboost 2.3L inline 4 ti the Paddle shift transmission.
I love the Econolines and the big and little slots are perfect! Can't wait to see this little gem back on the road.
I'd like to see someone do an EV conversion on one of these.
Thanks Mustie. I enjoyed every minute of this. Looking forward to the next episode!
ok getto boys, put fancy wheels on a non running truck. get it running and fix all the rust first.
um yeah it needs to roll to work on it
Drop in a new 3.0 I-6 diesel from GM with a 10 speed trans then drive it every day.
great clip mate .... SHE'S ALIVE !
You could always put a narrowed nine inch in the back to add some power handling and also move the wheels inward. Love the slot mags, they really look good on it.
jack stands
My 2005 was way worst, I had to do inner and outter rockers. (see vid if into that) Nice little truck id have no use for, but I still like them
Awesome vid, does anyone else see an adult Hot Wheels?
What an awesome channel !
I figured the gas would be pouring straight into the crankcase :))
