Have you thought of using a harrow, I think that's what it called, to break up the crusty top of the soil?

Some states have "no helmet" laws I understand. I just thought a father and husband might want to take the extra protection.

The pre-millennial tool used instead of a sump pump to drain water from a hole when I was farming was called a bucket and rope. Worked great and never popped the gfi. Cheers...

If you drill small holes in a bucket then set it in the hole by auger and fill around the bucket with gravel it will be easier to pump out.

I believe the seat weight switch is a requirement from the standard manufacturers must abide by. If not, they are doing it purely for liability. I agree though, those things are annoying. Somehow my father got around it on our little lawn mower though.

On our new holland we had the same issue on it the us little switch that has to be pushed down and we pushed it down and then put a washer to hold it down and just left it in all the time never bother to take it out and never had an issue with it after that
I don't know if the switch is the same but just find a way to jam it down and if your not sure if you got it try to start the tractor with out any weight in the seat I should start and let you put it in gear with out stalling
