Before the start of the Eocene Epoch about 56 million years ago--Antarctica was still joined to both Australia and South America. And it turns out that a lot of what we recognize about the southern hemisphere can be traced back to that time when Antarctica was green.

Earth broke away from Saturn's orbit, then expanded to nearly its present size. Then Along Came Venus, and knocked Earth off its axis by 23 1/2 degrees. It wasn't long ago Antarctica was Ice free. We know this because of the piri Reis map among others.

Antarctica froze because their automobile industry failed and they couldn’t maintain the earth’s warm global temperature.

First I heard of that wicked Current. Man I feel stupid now; I always thought that Antarctica was just that cold due to location since the North Ice cap is a thing I thought that it was a place with nearly no land mass below the ice.
Lack of Metropolises makes it somewhere I would not want to explore, so never looked into it.
I mean I think of Australia as a beautiful death trap, and I still want to explore it more than Antarctica despite me hating the heat/poison/bugs there... never really heard of any bad for the peoples living there at least.
I may prefer the cold... but endless white expanse and/or claustrophobic housing makes Antarctica unappealing though.
