I love your reviews. The taxi comparison is pretty spot on. I wonder if the recent criticism of super hero movies being “amusement parks” might be changing. First there was Logan and now this.

if this movie gets any Oscar buzz then it only makes what Jennifer Anniston comments true.

I'm amazed how people get the wrong impression of Dark Night. In the movie the
Joker shows Batman how similar they are because they both don't follow the rules and how good and bad it is very subjective and interpretive. It's a movie that can question whether a vigilante really is the best solution for that society despite the crimes.

@J Wavy the reason why the left is freaking out is because the joker gangs say and act just like antifa in the real world....anyone who calls out leftist crap these days in media they try to crush...it literally happened to Dave Chappelle newest special last month... tens of thousands of viewers gave it 90+% on rotten tomatoes...the expert media critics had it at 0% because Chapelle offended people who can't figure out basic biology.

I gotta watch it again but right now I’m gonna have to say the scissor scene is the best. Jesus Christ, it was just so unsettling and disgusting to watch. I mean, you know it’s gonna happen but holy shit it’s just so unsettling and brutal the way it happens. Even the bit where he lets the midget go, in any other movie they would have found to make a scene like that have some dark humor and pull it off. This one, unsettling and vile, but goddamn is this movie phenomenal.

Joker movement was so iconic to gotham i def see it being cult like and somebody takes up his persona. That way they can recast for the batman movie

Batman and joker were created on the same day. Complete opposite but still close.

They should just make all their movies like this make DC the serious comic books for adults instead of trying to copy the MCU we need more like joker

What I really loved about the scene where Arthur was in the bathroom with his “so called father”. While in that really rich and posh bathroom, it felt like all the problems with the poor people didn’t exist. Arthur felt out of place to be in the bathroom. It had me blink my eyes a few times too. It really contrasts and shows just how ignorant and selfish the rich people are in this movie.

Well i have just seen it, you have to think oh it's the mind of the joker. I did enjoy the 60s references and how mental health is fu*ked, but there has been moments of Arthur doing his thing and laughing for 3-4mins in sets. The whole twisty mindset is fantastic with him dancing(inspired ofc) like a creepy pedo and when he confronted Wayne i was like WTF until the joker cracks and kills people starting a mass riot. I can see them creating a sequel with batman but i felt the ending was more Thomas Wayne and the rich people were scum with you feeling bad for joker.

Movies do not make me sad, this is because I dissociate myself, I think ‘it’s not real’ but this film was so incredible with balancing tones that it flew by so quickly and it changed my outlook on the world. It allowed me to feel which is a real art form. It was one of the best films I have seen in my life hands down and was inherently better than Heath Ledgers joker.

I find particularly interesting how the movie depicts a Gotham where the suffocating weight of the established order leaves the populace no other choice but to turn to chaos. The Joker is the symbol of chaos rising from desperation. Whether by design or coincidence, It rings true in today's world. The less fortunate feel that they are silenced, that they are bearing the cost of a corrupt system, that they are put in a spot in which they cannot win. When you have lost all hope, when you think you can't win, all you want to do is watch the game and its players burn. Some people see chaos as their best tool to remove themselves from under the crushing weight of the established order and gain some semblance of freedom. As Alfred once said: "some men just want to watch the world burn", this movie gives some context as to why.

My favorite scene was when he was dancing and jumping on the steps. The colors, his emotion..all of it. I walked in to see this movie, wanting to see it.

I love this Joker, although the movie is not that exciting, I think it is a masterpiece. I can't stop watching and admiring Joaquin Phoenix - his Joker is so intense and so deep, he pulls you with him in his madness. I have never seen a character on movies so clearly and intensely like this joker/Phoenix. He was amazing! But all the other costars/characters were great and creepy too.

Him killing those 3 men on the train would spark an uprising and 2. His failed stand up set would get him a spot on a live TV talkshow. The reality of people in these situations is even more bleak than this movie portrays, because they never get a break like Arthur got, to appear on TV and voice his frustrations. In real life, these people end up killing themselves. There is no big transformation.

It is a city that is dark, and crime infested. Corruption, illegal acts, and everything undesirable rule the city. That is why the hero that Arkham city has is a guy like Batman as its hero that is very tough on crime.

Let me say that the performance of Phoenix was amazing! But there is something the movie got in my opinion wrong. Joker might be a complete lunatic that doesn't care about anything and wants to just to destroy for fun but he is always the smartest person in the room.. That's something the Ledger's way of handling the character achieved. If you want to do an origin story of him you have to show somehow that he is very smart also not just that why he lost his mind...They kind of missed this point in my opinion...
