          A googol is a 1 followed by a hundred 0's, not 10 followed by a hundred 0's.

A hilarious typo is the song “ little green bag”, by George Baker. The original title was a Little Greenback, referring to a dollar. Due to this typo a lot of people think the song is about marijuana.

I don’t know why because in that time (1969):
everyone smoked hash, held in aluminum foil to prevent dehydration. Nobody smoked marijuana which had a poor quality back then.
And I never saw green bags. Marijuana was most of the time sold in paper bags because you needed large quantities to have some effect.

To be fair, few (if any) Native American tribes had a writing system of their own and while I'm not an expert on their languages, it's reasonable to assume that the sound systems are significantly different from those of English and other European languages. Any attempt at writing their names for places is an approximation at best and given a hundred years of language changes and millions of people adopting English as a second language (again, from different sound systems), it seems unreasonable to expect that any of the names for places based on Native words are remotely close to what they are "supposed" to be.

Here's my reply to President Andrew Jacksons response to his spelling error:

I have to agree dear friend, but I didn't write the dictionary, nor did I dictate how it should be written. As a slave of the written word, I stand with the unfortunate curse of human annoyance of a first world problem and would most likely correct you none the less. Not because I wish to, but because I am enslaved to do so.

Funny thing about #7 is how those mistakes kinda just turn into alternate Bible stories. Who wouldn't be interested in reading about the Son who came from thy Lions, or Rebecca and her Camels? Likewise, who wouldn't be fascinated by the blessings of the Placemakers or the wrath of the Printers?
