A Boy Ate Only Chips And French Fries For 10 Years. This Is What Happened To His Eyes.

  • Published: 10 September 2019
  • This case is based on publication in literature by Harrison R, Warburton V, Lux A, Atan D. Ann Intern Med. 2019 Sep 3. Link below. Non-clinical elements (e.g. initials, story details, etc) are adapted. Peer Review: Dr. Nikhil Parelkar.

I originally had another case for video of a vitamin b12 deficiency I saw as a student about a girl on an overly strict diet. I didn't release it because the details were more difficult than I would like for a video. The clinical principles and science of that case and this one are the same.

Same, but not really. Once when I was a kid for some reason I woke up to get my vitamins and they were GONE. My parents were always busy and never had time to get more and with low iron, I always did things more slowly and lost a lot of energy from it. When I didn't take my vitamins or iron pills, my ankles and wrists started to hurt, and I got tired from running faster. I always went to sleep at 9:30 and had a normal hygiene routine every day, but I still felt terrible pain. I ended up skipping a day of school from the pain in my ankles, I didn't want to move. That day, my dad brought me vitamins and refilled iron pills. Once I had taken my vitamins, I felt much better the next day. My ankles and wrists no longer hurt, and I could run faster and longer than before. So, kids, take your meds. DON’T EXPERIENCE WHAT I HAVE. C:

WOW! Hey do one surrounding Diabetes being caused by TBI. That's actually what I'm dealing with now. It actually happened 4 years ago, but I looked up stress causing Diabetes back then & found nothing. I have no insurance, so I just learn about problems & mitigate damage. I had Diabetes symptoms right after the concussion, such as sweet smelling urine. My symptoms clustered around Multiple Sclerosis too, so I just chalked this up as something to eat healthy to mitigate until I start a career & get an examination. I also tested my blood sugar with my grandmas little finger-pricker thing, & after eating a Jimmy Johns chocolate cookie on an empty stomach, my blood sugar levels were normal. That's why I ruled out diabetes.

Well as I approach applying for tech jobs, I switched my day-2-day from Jimmy Johns to a busser job. I began noticing how easily I'd get infections on my cuts from handling eaten food surfaces, & how easily I'd bruise. It turns out there's already a type 3 Diabetes (which people are starting to call Alzheimer's t3) & it's called Diabetes Insipidus. It has to do with a damaged pituitary/hypothalamus not releasing anti-diuretic hormone. I guess that's why I'm randomly desperately thirsty, even though I've always drank water regularly. It also won't show up with blood sugar or insulin tests.

Then I watched your previous videos on weight loss. I got to know a small part of you as a regular person who struggles like the rest of us. But you keep pushing yourself. You have goals and you do what you need to do to meet them. Its inspiring to watch your videos from 2016 to now.
