Had to drive an '04 F-150 for work about 13 years ago...it was like trying to drive a couch with roller skate wheels bolted to the underside.
It wasn't the worst car I've driven, but it was definitely an ungainly, clumsy, overbearing, rickety oaf of a truck, with panel gaps so large I could fit my fingers between them.
It completely turned me off from owning an F-150.

It's kinda odd because I have an '04 Ranger XLT FX4 that's a great little truck, but that F-150 was absolutely dreadful.

Scotty, you're such a fan boy, that's the WORST truck out there.
The engine is a spark plug blowing pos. The transmission and drivetrain all went bad in less than 30k miles on mine. Also they have the worst crash test ratings.

Years ago, the Blue Oval made great pick up trucks. In 1980, Ford introduced a new line of pickups that were pretty much junk. Ford spent the '80s trying to improve the truck and cure this engineering disaster. Since then, their trucks have been mediocure, at best. The current aluminum bodied F-150s with their tiny all aluminum engines are filling the niche formally ocupied by the Ranchero. Why this guy has a love affair with Ford trucks is curious. These ecoboost engines will never live as long as all cast iron gas engines and the Ford and International are still smarting over the 6.0 diesel engine debacle. There are plusses and negatives with every current pick brand and no single brand has a lock on superiority.

I drove a Ford F250 super duty at my job, for years....and it felt like a lumber wagon....went through 2 engines ...always in the repair shop....underpowered and it sucked in snow. Then I drove a chevy Silverado....a win win.

The new ones say you dont have to touch the trans for 100000 miles. I just changed the filter in mine and put a pan with a drain plug at 30000. full fluid change and filter will happen at 60000 I hope to make it last 25 years .

Sorry Scotty not today, Toyota is still a highly superior truck. All my American half ton trucks I owned didn’t last for a damn had all three brands. my tundra is going strong and I beat on the truck every day and still perfect, and makes over a 100hp over stock.

I had two f150s. The one lasted me a week. The other literally snapped in half. Seriously my f150 snapped in half. I drive a ram now and it’s great 👍

I got an '03 Dodge Ram 2500 with 214,000 miles and still going strong.

I have 280k miles on mine. Everything original except brakes, shocks, alternators, and other simple things. Of course, yes, the five point four develops timing chain slack in these models. No big deal as there is an upgrade to the cam phasers, tensioners, and oil pump while you are in their. What pisses people off is that the mechanics charge a fortune to replace these parts. Suck it up and do it yourself and Save money. One thing I am pissed off about is that mine has a sunroof. I've never used it. But all of the sudden I have a slight odd leak. And....I was ignorant about the sunroof drain tube that exits the rear corner of the cab. The tube falls back in the channel and causes rust. I am in georgia and I let this happen! Also, the third brake light gasket on all of these modern trucks allows water to get behind it and drains down in cab corners. Make sure you put the third brake light lens back on properly when replacing the bulb! Damnit. The GM trucks are good in their own special way as well. They have less torque, less crash safety, some don't have rear disks, steering column shaft issues, rattle interiors, and a little bit less of a transmission than the ford. But, the five point three engine in the GM has simplicity on its side. The shade tree mechanic has cheaper repair options when that five point three breaks down. And it's a little easier to work on. I wouldn't pass on a GM truck for a good deal. The dodge, however.....oh my god.

Scotty, like your videos. I get concerned about the problem Ford had with spark plugs thread problem with plugs literally falling or shooting out. Please review model years to avoid. Otherwise, I agree Ford are good trucks. Certain engines had that spark plug stripping out problem. Which motors to avoid. I'm looking at used class 3 RV. Don't want that problem.

If I pulled next to that Ford with my 2nd gen lifted Dodge Ram 1500 5.9 4x4 ,that Ford would pee out of the exhaust and run home.

I have a 2006 with the 5.4 it's two wheel drive . But it's all original . I keep hearing bad stuff about how the 5.4 isn't good but mine pulls a box trailer 5x8 loaded everyday and I love my blue baby . But I do want a good mechanic and I live in Plano so if your close id like to know.

How much stock do you have in ford ???. My friends F250 Heavy Duty bought3 extended warranty's for this truck. Latest problem can't get truck to take has faster than a dribble.fords fix $ 890.00 to get gas in your tank Fords are good if you buy a lot of extended warranty's and have a spare car.

Have you ever tried changing spark plugs on a 5.4l 3valve give it to ford to re engineer the spark plug that has bee. Working just fine for over 100 years, I'm a Toyota guy but fords do pull heavy loads well

Gotta 2000 f-150 v6 5 spd standard. Goin' on 300000 rough miles. No problems. Wouldn't be afraid to drive it anywhere.

Buy a Ford and you might have to put a new Trans in around 150-220 miles. Or you can buy a Toyota Tacom and not worry about it.

Ford mass produced and sells to companies dirt cheap. My employer bought them. 4WD is horrible. Sliding around the snow all wknd long. With the factory tires.
