The Truth About Apple TV+

  • Published: 28 September 2019
  • Apple is diving head-first into the streaming wars, with a new slate of original programming. That sounds great, but what does it all mean? From the shows you'll get to the price you'll pay for it, we've rounded up everything you need to know about Apple TV+.

Everyone clutching their wallets can breathe a sigh of relief. Apple TV+ is going to be among the most affordable of the major streaming services, launching at only $4.99 per month. This is less than half the cost of Netflix's most popular plan, which is $12.99 per month, or Hulu's ad-free plan at $11.99. It's also less than a third of the cost of the upcoming HBO Max, which is likely to cost anywhere from $15 to $18 per month.

More comparable to the price point of Apple TV+ are CBS All Access at $5.99 per month, Hulu's $5.99 ad-supported plan, and Disney+, which will cost $6.99 per month when it launches in November.

However, for early birds who jumped on Disney's special offer and paid up-front in August of 2019, they'll have gotten the best bargain of all, snagging Disney+ for three years for less than $4 per month. It's a commitment, but a cheap commitment.

Right now, Apple TV+ can't compete with that not unless they also decide to roll out a similar discount, designed to tie subscribers to their service for a few years.

Just a little over seven months after the tech company first announced their new streaming service, Apple TV+ will hit screens beginning on November 1, 2019. The app will launch simultaneously in over 100 countries and regions, meaning that no matter where you're located, there's a pretty good chance you'll be able to access the service before the end of the year. Keep watching the video to learn the truth about Apple TV+!

They (Netflix,Hulu, internet providers aka isp’s ect..) always start at a lower price, remember the 4.99 price? ... once hooked it slowly goes up in price by a few dollars at a time, just so you don’t panic, just like the frog in the pot of water that boils slowly phrase...standard business model, sadly, every single product of the sort does it... we all, well a majority has tried to “cut the cable” have now found all these corporations seemed to work together on gathering up content and putting up a monthly fees to get access, seems like it was all planned to get you back, add up what you pay then look at who funds what.. it’ll make sense when you do...

What are you talking about??? The €4.99pm Apple plus does not grant access to movies etc! That is the fee to the gameplay only!! So you can’t compare that to Netflix!! You need to do your homework sweetheart

It’s only a little bit cheaper than Netflix in the UK...but lets face it - Apple TV+ is not offering anywhere near as much Netflix, hulu, or amazon prime... had they included their iTunes titles (just like Apple Music does) then I’d be happy to pay £9.99 ... at the moment it is a very poor service

I attended an event in NYC on: 10/3//19: A night with M Night and full cast for Apple TV+ new show: SERVANT. I might consider Apple TV+, if Apple comes up with another lower price promotion.

I don’t understand. I live in the UK and I’ve had Disney Life for a while now and been paying £4.99 a month for it. It has all the Pixar movies, Star Wars cartoons Disney Classics etc... is this some pre service cos I keep hearing its yet to be released? What’s the difference going to be?

Why have the same crap as other streaming sites? Netflix has been moving to all their own content. After all, everyone else wants their content on their own service which is why all Marvel will be gone from Netflix for example. If I can watch the content someplace else, why sigh up to Apple? If you buy pretty much any Apple product, you get the service free for a year, otherwise wait a few months as more and more content gets released.

This is why Kodi thrives. Folks simply don't want all these restrictions on something they are paying for. How many downloads, where we can down load on what device, when it expires etc...

The best streaming option is Kodi.. turn it on search for a title, click play. Doesn't matter who made the film who distributed who owns it.

I like that buying an Apple device will include Apple TV+ for 1-year. That is the only way I'll end up having any subscription to Apple TV+. My Netflix subscription comes through my T-Mobile service and my Amazon Prime Video comes through my household Amazon Prime shipping spend.

I just don't watch enough "tv" content to justify going out of way to have subscription to one of these services, but if other parts of lifestyle can get me access to these, then I am able to enjoy some content when I feel like it or I hear enough positive buzz about something to seek it out.
