Should have used the epoxy. Gorilla Glue (urethane) is really weak if the gap is bigger than a few thousandths.

If I was going to building a wooden driveshaft I'd make it t outta Oak, Bodoc, or Hickory way stronger than pine. Plus I'd have a wood working shop build it and turn it on a lay.

OK, guys, if you want to make a wooden driveshaft that will hold up, take an 3/4 hickory dowel, tightly wrap it with Yellow Birch veneer stripping (preferably an inlay type that's 1/8" thick, and 1/4-1-2" wide), until you have a 3 inch thick shaft. As you are rapping it, Every 180° put in a 1/2 brad in the very center of the veneer strip to hold it in place. Start each wrap 30° off from the previous wrap, and coiling in the opposite direction. Finally, vacuum infuse the shaft with vinyl ester epoxy. The end product should be strong enough to do a burnout, and almost perfectly balanced.
