the problem with modern Disney princess isn't the old stereotypes its the RE-BRANDING of them making them not a princess but a woman. to change the idea you ruin that idea. as I learned in the military not all change is good. as we've all seen in the latest remake movies of Aladdin and the lion kings. the nostalgia is there but they took what made those movies great and got ride of those pieces and made the remakes bland and dull. the modern princess is kind of the same. yes the new ones are more heroic and more independent, which is a good thing for modern ideals but don't take the history away from the originals that brought us to this point. so far I love each and every one of the Disney princess tile you take the sparkle that was those ladies to begin with then its just a useless cash grab with no substance.

Again with the clickbaity thumbnails. You talk about all the changes Disney is making to their classic Princess lineup, but you're basically doing it based entirely off Wreck It Ralph 2, and yet you show the live-action Little Mermaid... or fanart/teaser art of her, at least. Why? It's inaccurate and tacky.

I know! They should make a movie where it's a feminine role rescuing a man in distress as a "kiss my ass our movies are phenomenal!" For real, what if Cinderella was a man? xD All of their movies have a good meaning and story. I think realistically everybody wants to find true love, whether it's their main goal or not. I was also half-expecting there to be a comment on a lot of disney princesses being white.

I think they should have mentioned Enchanted. It literally covers the story of the stereotyped girl, starry eyed over the prince, damsel in distress... And she comes to the "real world" where she discovers her strengths, her wants and herself. It's all of this wrapped up in one movie, with great songs and hilarious jokes. Real missed opportunity there.

Nothing wrong with being a damsel in distress. Damsels can be role models too. You forget that guys like to save girls. What the hero male role. Can’t forget that.

@7:49 You include Tiana from The Princess and the Frog as a "heroine who wants to settle down with her prince" above all other goals. This is so untrue. He largest goal was to open here supper club, and she did this after she was married and became human again.

What is wrong with you we live in a free world. Women should be allowed to be whatever they want to be. Who are you to decide that women must become independent and lonely to be happy? If you want to be fair then disney should make 50 50 movie, one that have modern value and one that have traditional value. Many male lead role also 99% of the time always ended up with a woman as well. Who are you to say that traditional value is bad? In this modern world women must be allowed to choose whatever they want to do. If they want to follow traditional role then you should respect their choice not shaming them.

Sorry to say this but Disney first and foremost is motivated by money. It's great that they are starting to show a better image and I hope they continue.

On another note, since Hercules became a god (if only for a moment) would the off spring of him and Meg be a demigod? If so a young girl would be a good storyline.

"Domesticated" and "Have no character". Wow. Look at Cinderella. She grew up losing her parents, in abusive household. But despite all that she carried her loving and caring nature throughout the mess. She learnt that hard work and making friends counts a lot in this world, and thanks to her inner strength she was able to get herself into the place she could only dream about. She didn't do it alone - she had friends that she cared about, and who cared of her. She never acted as a show-off, she was modest and elegant, like a true noble soul.
Not so many people understand, what it means to grow up in abusive household. It's very hard to break free from the inner chains, that tie person to family and to own insecurities. In the end Cinderella was able to stand up for herself - and took the chance to start a new life. That takes bravery. In most cases people stay to serve, in fear for their lives.
Cinderella: hardworking, kind, caring, decent, modest and brave. I respect people like that in general. It doesn't matter, what they do: clean the house or be head of their own business. I've seen women like this - and they were truly inspiring.
Female empowerment is usually pictured to be right in your face. Whereas in the old Disney movies all of it was much more subtle. You could look at the Studio Ghibli animation (if we talk about massively popular media here) and see how gently and subtly strong female characters are in there. For example, Sophie from "Howl's moving Castle". She's not exceptionally pretty, very modest and hardworking. She was always fascinated by the Moving Castle, and once she met Howl - she immediately fell in love with him. Once she got cursed, she went looking for help and to possibly antagonize the Witch. She ended up serving in Howl's castle, and several times was saved by him throughout the movie. Sounds like a weak domesticated female character, right? But if you look closer, you'll see how stubborn she actually is. Thanks to her effort she managed to protect people that she loved and cared about.
I understand how movies should be empowering and all. And I mean not only for women. Sadly, I actually see a lot of apathy around from young men. It wouldn't hurt for Disney to make new interesting characters of both genders. Imho this whole empowering works better when it looks naturally in the story, fits real situations within unreal decorations. And doesn't divide characters into separate genders with a message: girls are better than boys, girls don't need boys, boys are evil - and other crap that is all over the place now, everywhere.

Then the story does have love, but the main plot will not be about that. Most Disney movies tell how a love story begins, it´s getting boring.

I really wanted them to be in one movie together so badly (the first time I was that excited was when I saw Rapunzel and Flynn at Elsas coronation) and wow, I loved this little "rescue moment" so much that I actually cried hahaha

Less with romance and more about working for something other then finding love since it shouldn't be the most important part of ones life. If it is for others then no one could do anything but let them find their love as vice versa.

She is always strong and her relationship with prince Navine(idk how to spell it) doesn't start romantically it grows as they get to know each other. They both inspire the other to change for the better and she never looks weak. My favorite princess movie!
