Gotta love the hypocrisy from a host who makes 100 times the average salary of the staff of his show complaining about inequality.

The optimism of American people is so messed up,
It's almost like christians believing that the second coming will happen in their life time....

Ya when America abolished slavery the big business intrest in collusion with the banks put into place the European slavery system. See the owning of slaves coast money in housing and feeding them. To control the money makes everyone a slave not just people if color. Slaves are now forced to work for the big companies (who will buy you out if you make something orginal or worth something for a lower price then make twice as much using there infustcter or kill it totally. ) to compete for wages to feed and house themselves while the masters keep a disproportionate part for themselves. Enjoy your McDonald's and Amazon slaves.

I'll tell you all how social time pays off. It pays off in understanding that ALL the people with free time had just enough of it to run off with success, especially if they come from a loooonngg line of it, or cap off their loner-isms with performance drugs!!!!! They keep telling the mental health patients to recapture their social time. How do you think we got there in the first place!!!!! We need time ALONE and a LOT of it.

John Oliver's humor is very fitting for the double digit IQers. income inequality is a good thing because it actually means your choices matter.

Income inequality will always get worse because the rich are always thinking of how to make more money and the rest stop thinking of making more money when their life gets comfy.

there are the investors who own the politicians who create the national debt, the same investors who own the $22,750,000,000,000 national debt, and the wage earners who owe $69,000 each to pay it off.
today the national debt increases $60,000 per second

This isint alarming at all. I'm in the middle class so how could this ever affect me. Hahahaha I'll be part of the 1% eventually you loosers I'll hit the jack pot on the lottery way before I'm at the soup kitchen with you peasants.

It's a little more complicated than that, but mostly accurate. The reality is, as far as the literal lotteries go, people can, and do, win. In fact, one mistake common to mathematics (as they don't directly represent reality, but models of potential reality), is that an event that CAN happen, no matter how minuscule the probability, will eventually happen in a closed and finite universe. The universe cannot reach maximum entropy until every event that can possibly occur, has...and since it cannot avoid reaching maximum entropy at some point, every event that can occur, will occur.

Just, probably not for any of us...any time soon. Nevertheless, lotteries are still very stupid, and should be abolished, along with many other intrinsically harmful and grossly useless quirks of our culture.

12:19 Yeah this entire segment, no fucking joke. I was lucky enough to have bourgeoisie-ass UMC tech parents who were able to line me up reasonable (not generally good, but reasonable... the upper middle class is nice, not that nice) mental health attention. It wasn't easy, but I made it out the other end. If I were born lower class, flip a coin, and if it were heads, I would have shot up a public function by age 18, I'm pretty sure. The system will change, or fall apart under the weight of billionaires' egos. I shouldn't have had to deal with what I did. It enrages me that poorer folks have to deal with situations so much worse, it's another damned dimension.

Jeff Bezos owes all of us his fucking money. But some of us, a LOT more than others.

People who make the "wealth gap" argument are morons - they would rather have $100 and their neighbor have $500 than have $1,000 if their neighbor had $20,000. What a worthless point of view.

And you answer this is well let's take the money away from the rich according to you only a third of that Forbes list had inherited wealth that means 2/3 did not nobody has a right to take the inheritance of someone else just because they're here and it is bigger this is just jealousy at work

Also Congress could make the economy more mobile by reducing the burden it places, by dramatically reducing spending, eliminate certain taxes (not just lower them), reduce onerous laws and regulations, and end corporate welfare.
