What Nebraska has is called Runza's. I thought I'd hate them, since I don't like like cabbage, but now I can go to a Super Bowl party without them.

Thank you so much for talking about the Bierock! My mom made these for us growing up, yet no one seems to know about them. My family is from Kansas and I figured it was the local Mennonite communities that made these buns for church gatherings and the recipe was spread by word of mouth and local cookbooks that would be printed for fundraisers. We still make these here in Colorado- they can be made in massive batches and freeze very well. Thank you for shining a brief spotlight on this gem from my childhood. <3

6:40- The Bierock is German. As a German from Nebraska, you can buy them in restaurants. There is a Nebraska fast food chain called Runza that sells them. Even locals think because of this they are called Runzas, but that is wrong. They are Bierocks. Lastly, Runza restaurants Bierocks are NOTHING like the originals. It's not even close.

Piroggi or piroshki come from Poland. In Russia they call them cheburek, kinda all the same. Beer batter or simple noodle dough (in russia made with vodka ofc), filled with roasted ground pork and deep fried actually.
