                            'Newer' oil injection for two strokes? Every two stroke road bike I owned in the 70's had oil injection. Yamaha RD's to Kawasaki triples. One oil injection failure in over a thousand hours riding time in the 70's and that was on my Kawasaki H1 500 (and yes the engine did seize, back wheel locked and sent me sliding across four lanes of traffic, still don't know why that one semi didn't run over me, what's life without a little heart stopping fun?)

                              There's a little example how about a Harley-Davidson Dyna with a stock engine that makes 80 horsepower and 100 foot pounds of torque add a set of triple clamps so the front end will be planted in a turn nice set of reservoir dampening rebound compression adjustable shocks on the rear a better mapping of the ignition and fuel injection a simple tune header pipe that mostly everybody does to any type of motorcycle and you're about to watch a video Southern California I've basically unmodified as far as engine modification Harleys out

                                    I'm totally at lost for words for this day I'm listening do the cons of a three-cylinder Triumph which are exactly opposite of what it really is what what is the real purpose here of all the totally untrue facts of nothing a jack of all trades master at none is that why my friend to ride them I've logged over 200,000 miles in every state of the United States writing three-cylinder Triumph that this guy says is not that sophisticated when the KA engine cases are made by lotus of England with high pressure Extrusion aluminum die casting molds and all the internal parts are made by Cosworth who build the most technical engines in the world like for Indianapolis 500 and I'm talkin Cosworth who builds all the high performance engines that are the best in the world that he claims Triumph is not that they're Worthy even though they use Cosworth Parts and their design

                                      Conn's vibration can lack of low-end torque sound bad on most by most boring engine type but he forgot to mention the fact that it won the Pro Stock us Nationals as they fastest motorcycle in the quarter mile in fact in mind don't vibrate it has enough torque to climb out of a coal mine and doesn't seem to be boring at all as Wherever I Go it draws a crowd asking me a dozen question the never stop someone forgot to tell the script writer and this guy reciting the script that there's this thing called counter balance that eliminates this thing he is calling vibration that's never there never was never has been where do they come up with the stupid shit oh I get it this is the propaganda to convince young guys from ever considering buying one and jumping on a four-cylinder instead

                                        It's pretty darn easy to open up a service manual for any of these parallel twins he's claiming that are easy to work on for example if you want to adjust the valve lash on the little red bike in mine pictured of Avatar first you're going to take all the measurements to see where their clearances are now then you're going to pull the camshaft out the valves nder the camshaft then with micrometers subtract the difference of what you found when you first measured the clearances then you're going to take those micrometers and you're going to find shims that'll make the difference up so you'll have the proper clearance at the same time when you put it all back together and that's only half of the valves the other four valves are adjusted manually after your valve assembly is all back together again this guy running the interview is totally unskilled and none scholar of what he's talking about

                                          Did he really say single cylinder dirt bike engine motorcycles are very easy to work on that's what he said apparently he has never pulled apart a single-cylinder modern dirt bike engine as I'm sure all of you should be aware that pulling the engine from the frame is a major undertaking without using pry bars and Hammers and and then repainting a frame to hide all the track's you just made of scratches and tearing the paint off of it I mean it's working as a technician in a motorcycle shop seven years you got to do this pretty fast and make any money and beat the clock and then give it back to the customer in better shape than it was brand new this guy is another one who's reading a script that someone printed out for him to recite

However, V twins should be divided into two groups: inherently unbalanced 60 degree V's - which gives HD's their "distinctive" sound and the better balanced 90 degree V's of the Italian brand that rev smoother and higher.

                                                        Dirt bike- single cylinder- light weight, narrow, less parts to maintain, high torque at low rpm, more vibration, 4-strokes sound like a tractor. Parallel twin- cheaper to make than a V-twin, no back cylinder blocked from the wind. V-twin- great sound when engine braking at 20 mph. Inline 4s- rev higher for more power, less vibration, better for track days than for street riding, more parts. Inline 3s- powerband more of a compromise for both low end torque and peak power compared to 2 or 4 cylinders. V-4s- usually the winners for 1,000cc MotoGP. Boxer 2s and 4s, transverse V-twins- quirky engines originally used for BMWs and Moto Guzzis so all the cylinder heads were in the wind for less overheating, more torque steer, the boxers have a low center of gravity, the Goldwing engine is one of the best for long trips, at a high price for dollars and extra weight. I have an inline 4 I ride most Saturdays, and a V-twin I ride most Sundays on curvy country roads with few cars.

                                                          Anyone else remember the puch twingles, I am currently restoring a Puch 250. They had 2 separate pistons offset a few degrees from eachother, but a common combustion chamber. It improved both low end torque and added a power band smoothness that wasn't common during the 50s with 2 stroke motors

                                                            What about the Ducati "L" twin, please don't lump us in with badly balanced V's. The old Ducati's with conti exhaust and desmo valve drive sounds so much better than those un-baffled V's.

                                                                I've got an '86 VFR700F (Interceptor), and I've always said, it was that sound that got my attention. It's got plenty of leg room for a 6'3" guy. It's got tons of torque with a really smooth power band, good news for a first-time sport bike owner (it's predictable when you twist the throttle, not really jumpy, also due to the weight).

                                                                        Actually, with V-engines, angle is everything when it comes to vibration. 90-degree engines as in Ducati, Guzzi and the (late) Honda VTR are extremely smooth. Even the 80-degree Honda CX bikes were smooth.

                                                                              saying a v twin is different from a parallel twin is rubbish the parallel or in line 4 vs v4 they can be identical with crank timing. the cylinders don't care where they are they could be upside down if you could still oil the crank.

                                                                                            Anyone saying that a V engine sounds better than a inline 4 is wrong, has always been wrong and will always will be wrong. There is just nothing about a V engine sound that will ever be remotely close to sound as good as an inline 4. Just stop saying v enginges sounds good... its just disgusting how they sound
