Luna, the fifth largest moon orbits the fifth largest planet of our solar system, Earth, which is kinda coincidental, as are the sizes of the sun and Luna when viewed from Earth.
Love, love your Top Five series!
So the new series should be called Scientific Sundays? I really like your channel and appreciate all the science facts you put into your videos. Keep up the great content and I can completely understand why you need to take a break from all the FE debunking vids. I'm sure it gets tiresome having to prove over and over again with facts a global earth. Awesome Channel! 👍
Titan is absolutely amazing
I kinda wanna know your opinion on the top 5 most unusual exoplanets.
i really like this new series from you. hmm one question i have is... if we would send another porbe like voyager 1 and 2 but with current tech on a route outside the solar system could it be faster and eventually even send pictures and more data back to earth from interstellar space?
Interesting stuff! Thanks, Dan!
So I was curious how do they actually know what moons and other planets cores are actually made of. Love your channel keep up the great work of destroying all the flat earthers
Loved it. Catch my panties, dude.
LXXVIII. The Sun and Moon: the Waxing and Waning of the Moon.
CHAPTER LXXVII.
1. And the names of the sun are the following: the first Orjârês, and the second Tômâs. 2. And the moon has four names: the first name is Asônjâ, the second Eblâ, the third Benâsê, and the fourth Erâe. 3. These are the two great luminaries: their circumference is like the circumference of the heaven, and the size of the circumference of both is alike. 4. In the circumference of the sun there are seven portions of light which are added to it more than to the moon, and in definite measures it is s transferred till the seventh portion of the sun is exhausted. 5. And they set and enter the portals of the west, and make their revolution by the north, and come forth through the eastern portals on the face of the heaven. 6. And when the moon rises one-fourteenth part appears in the heaven: ⌈the light becomes full in her⌉: on the fourteenth day she accomplishes her light. 7. And fifteen parts of light are transferred to her till the fifteenth day (when) her light is accomplished, according to the sign of the year, and she becomes fifteen
p. 105
parts, and the moon grows by (the addition of) fourteenth parts. 8. And in her waning (the moon) decreases on the first day to fourteen parts of her light, on the second to thirteen parts of light, on the third to twelve, on the fourth to eleven, on the fifth to ten, on the sixth to nine, on the seventh to eight, on the eighth to seven, on the ninth to six, on the tenth to five, on the eleventh to four, on the twelfth to three, on the thirteenth to two, on the fourteenth to the half of a seventh, and all her remaining light disappears wholly on the fifteenth. 9. And in certain months the month has twenty-nine days and once twenty-eight. 10. And Uriel showed me another law: when light is transferred to the moon, and on which side it is transferred to her by the sun. 11. During all the period during which the moon is growing in her light, she is transferring it to herself when opposite to the sun during fourteen days [her light is accomplished in the heaven], and when she is illumined throughout, her light is accomplished full in the heaven. 12. And on the first day she is called the new moon, for on that day the light rises upon her. 13. She becomes full moon exactly on the day when the sun sets in the west, and from the east she rises at night, and the moon shines the whole night through till the sun rises over against her and the moon is seen over against the sun. 14. On the side whence the light of the moon comes forth, there again she wanes till all the light vanishes and all the days of the month are at an end, and her circumference is empty, void of light. 15. And three months she makes of thirty days, and at her time she makes three months of twenty-nine days each, in which she accomplishes her waning in the first period of time, and in the first portal for one hundred and seventy-seven days. 16. And in the time of her going out she appears for three months (of) thirty days each, and for three months she appears (of) twenty-nine each. 17. At night she appears like a man for twenty days each time, and by day she appears like

the heaven, and there is nothing else in her save her light.
I would be okay with me if you converted km to mi ... for us yanks... maths can be hard late at night, after a few pints =)
This is a great series! I think an interesting segment for a top 5 would be something along the lines of strangest systems or bodies found, or maybe even top 5 largest known stars, since that list is always changing.
Science top 5 playlist? :)
Top 5 biggest stars.
I love these videos! Well done!
But in the future, could you please display the name of the moons, the stars, the planets, ... you are talking about? Would make it much easier for non-English speakers AND English speakers who have no clue about those things alike. I have no idea which moon number 4 is. I can't figure it out by your pronunciation alone. Granted, I'm not a native English speaker, and I'm not even an amateur astronomer. But I tend to look up such things when I hear about them in videos like this, but with this number 4 moon, I can't.
And an idea for another video: "5 celestial bodies visible with the naked eye, that aren't moons, satellites, stars or planets."
Apperently it's "Io" ( i + o ). I'd never have guessed that. I tend to pronounce the heavenly bodies in Latin, so it would be "ee-o".
Idea: Top 5 most distant manmade objects. I know the Voyagers will be up at the top, but will the probe that visited Ultima Thule make the list?
Very nice and informative.. more of this - but also keep bashing them flatearthers :D
Hi Dan, been watching for a while now. This video got me thinking, Jupiter is a gas giant. It’s definitely has way more mass than earth, and I assume, more Density, which would create more gravity. But how does all that work with gas giants? They would definitely be less dense than an earthlike planet of the same size, and have less gravity, Right? I don’t know if there’s a video You could do about it? The relationship between mass, density, and gravity. What affects gravity more? Mass or density?
Definetely less dense? Comparatively, yes. Have less gravity? Not necessarily. Jupiter is /HUGE/ - big enough that you could compact all the other planets of the solar system into one ball and still have room to spare in comparison. Jupiter's average density is 1,33 g/cm^3 (grams per cubic centimeter), while water's is 1 g/cm^3, a value so accurate that serves as the basis for density, whether a body would float or not on it or not. Saturn's average density is 0,7 g/cm^3, meaning that if you'd have an ocean big enough for this one to be set in... it would float. Still, it's indisputable that Saturn has a stronger gravitational pull than Earth's, because of its overall mass - being the second largest planet in the solar system, Saturn is a monster in its own right, after all. If you'd compress its mass to match the density of Jupiter's - because density is how much matter you have in a given space - it would be smaller than you see it.
But we're skipping the biggest example of all... The Sun itself. What is a star if not a ball of gas, so concentrated that it undergoes nuclear fusion at its core, right? Yet, you could be forgiven for finding a hard time to believe it could go nuclear with just an average density of 1,41 g/cm^3. But remember that if Jupiter is huge, the Sun is /MASSIVE/ by comparison - a thousand Jupiters would fit the volume of the Sun, just like a thousand Earths would fit the volume of Jupiter. And let's not forget that 'average' is overall, where we assume matter would be evenly distributed - and it's not; at the core, the concentration of matter is much greater, enough that it behaves as a superfluid, or even a solid.
And why is the concentration bigger at the center of any one object massive enough for this differentiation? Well, that's because of gravity acting on all particles at once as if they were one; this one pulls all particles together into its center. Gravity is directly affected by the amount of mass a body has - whether that mass comes from rocks crumpled together to form a rocky world, or enormous gas clouds that collapsed on themselves to make a gas giant or even a star, is a trifling matter. So while yes, a rocky world would have a higher density, it's the sheer amount of matter in the gas giants that throws off the expectations of a smaller gravitational field. But, if the Earth were the same size as Jupiter, then the gravity would be much higher - higher even than the gas giants.
Regarding mass or density affecting gravity more or less, density is merely the concentration of material in a given space. If you have a denser material, more of it will occupy the same volume, while compressing two different materials to a same density would simply occupy a different volume. A trick question in basic physics for children is actually 'What weights more - a kilo of lead, or a kilo of cotton?' And you can see their overall density, which is the fundamental trick of the question: both weight the same, their volumes are what changes. So, gravity is unaffected by density. It's mass that is a key factor in the gravity equation.
Do we have definite proof of methane clouds? Or are we extrapolating that from the data we have of the conditions on Titan?
@Herschel1738 I'm not talking about the composotion of Titan's atmosphere. I'm specific about the clouds. Do we have exact data on cloud formation or it is being extrapolated from the data we do have?
Generally, scientists use spectroscopy (the analysis of light emitted by or reflected off an object) to determine its elements. Every element has a unique spectra, called Fraunhofer lines, that are like the UPC on a product.
CSI uses a similar process to analyze paint chips from a vehicle and other evidence..
Excellent video
And they're all flat!!
I like this much more than dealing with flat-earthers. Top 5 earth-like planets discovered by hubble space telescope???
Earthshine is a soft, faint glow on the shadowed part of the moon caused by the reflection of sunlight from the Earth. Specifically, Earthshine happens when the light from the sun is reflected from the Earth's surface, to the moon, and then back to our eyes.
Loved this video!
These are awesome, could you keeping heading further out? Some interesting stars, blackholes, magnatars and a few cool planets would be great
Thanks SciMan! I originally came across your videos as a result of Flat earth Fridays. It's great to see someone logically processing and interpreting the information without getting overly emotionally involved which really results in killing any chance for an actual debate. I'm glad to see additional videos going out beyond in astronomy and science. Keep it up!
Io is no moon, it's an hot pocket that has been left for too long in the microwave.
As u said, the power of gravity is pulling on iO from all directions, so how could it have formed, u said ther a 100 meter fluctuation in ios mass yet u hypothesize that it formed how, take a bowl, put a small amount of iron fillings in it, take magnet, to represent gravity, can u creat anything, spell your name or form a wall, maybe clump the fillings together to form a ball, nope, explain why you dont have success, take 2 magnets on each side, does not the fillings seperate..into chaos from chaos, try it, you'll see reality not hypothetics....pay attn, scimandan, theres more...!!!!
I'm curious...it looks like SciFiMan is being fed a narrative by his handlers...which are now trying to find ways to lie and avoid the topics brought up Flat Earthers as a result...Like Rocketry and Stuff. It's apparent now Dan the SciFi Man...you are a PAYED SHILL.
54 flat earthers didn't like this video.
If you ever do a flat earth one, how about top 5 biggest morons in the solar system?

Yea we see them alright. In all their 'Thunderbirds' cartoonish splendor. Right on, kid... top JOB.
I vote for a video on the top 5 largest galactic super clusters.
@scimandan I'd be interested in knowing you're top 5 equations that have progressed humans as a species.
I like the "Top 5" idea. Another great video, Dan
tried to guess the 5 before the video started i got 4 of them, i picked Europa instead of Callisto
Best ep I've seen Dan. Genuinely constructive, interesting and useful. Thanks
Top five suggestion. Longest operating spacecraft please.

Hello, Mr SciManDan. Thank you for making me laugh with your videos while using facts at the same time. I think it would be interesting to see top 5 greatest natural phenomenons in our Solar System. I am not sure is natural "phenomenon" the correct word to use for what I have in mind, but I shall explain. For instance: coldest temperature, weirdest day (Mercury! Mercury!), most powerful storm, fastest wind speed and other natural phenomenons that are too extreme or just simply odd for us and our life on planet Earth.
I remember how amazed I was when I, for the first time, read about sun setting and rising on Mercury, for example. I played it in my head many times just to get the full picture of it :). I am still amazed about Jupiter's Great Red Sport and Saturn's North Pole.
Gotta tell you, Dan, this is one of my favorite videos. I love science and astronomy and while watching you skewer flatties is entirely entertaining, this one REALLY peaked my interest! Thank you!
parrot shill with hair like beaker from the muppets
why does this guy keep gettin in my recommendation to watch
i don't care flat /round

So, you really ARE a flat earther!
This dude and you are obviously idiots
But they don't "think" basketballs are flat. You do.
No proof but paintings and distant pictures. Stars
02:53 interesting pictures. It seems like that this moon is very "young " ,very soft ,or fluidy under the surface like freshly cocked potato ,or rite tomato . To me it seems like that electromagnetic discharges are penetrating the surface and are the real cause of volcanoes and dielectric acceleration of all bodies around keep this moon stretching and squishing in mutual dependence of positions of those bodies ,which keeps those volcanoes alive .
Nice CGI pics Danny
