I don't see a problem with some Darwin awards being handed out. The sherpas should just take the money, then stand and watch these idiots kill themselves.

Just watched a china movie about the hard journey to climb Mount Everest even though at first they have already done that in 1960 but didn’t take a photo as part of celebrating China 70 years. And using that movie to compare to the things that had been described in this video. And the difference of people dying up there was so fucking different in these 50 years

Aww... everyone knows what was up in Simon and Garfunkel, you didnt have to call it out like that. That just seemed kinda harsh. It was still funny but kind of unnecessarily spiteful. He's an incredibly talented musician and seemingly decent guy that keeps to himself.

. The sherpas are paid a decent wage? and willingly do the job, a better question to the Sherpa would be, what would you be doing if you didn't have this job? The sherpas are not *_forced_* to do this work, they aren't slave labor. Instead of feeling guilty about providing them dangerous but well paying (or best paying, I don't know how pay and cost scale there) work, maybe feel guilty more isn't done to provide them other kinds of work.

I am by no means saying wasting money and risking life for the meaningless "achievement" of climbing to the top of Mount Everest is something we should be doing. Think of the environmental problems for one, air travel, van travel, disposable stuff needed for every trip including oxygen tanks and so on. But providing people work is one aspect that isn't exactly one to feel guilty about. This isn't a sweat shop employing little kids with painted on fire exits.

My blacksmith, ram, is just 13 km north of Kathmandu and he makes some fine blades. I've convinced him to let me do the heat treating and tempering but he does everything else. I've given him 2 solar panels (electricity is erratic in Nepal as well as a tuned Chinese shoe patcher sewing machine for his leather work. Wish I could give you lot an exact address but the thing about these informal businesses is that they're informally situated. Even gave him some macassar ebony for the handles of 2 of my knives.

Honestly People shouldn't be climbing Everest in this day and age. Unless its on their own or with minimal assistance.

Or at the very least they should seriously think about how much danger and potentially fatal risks that they are putting the sherpers in.
Yes they pay the sherpers but not nearly enough to endured such an exhaustive and potentially fatal climb.

Considering that those sherpers are normally the main bread winners for their family's ..children ect

What happens to their familys if god forbid one of them dies on the mountain. What happens their spouses..familys or if they happen to have childern
Who will then resume the responsibility of taking care of their loved ones. I

Im not not saying that all who have summited everest or tried to summit it are bad people
I'm pointing out that there is a real danger in underpaying them for the potentially fatlal risk(for the sherpers in particular)

That should be payed more attention to
Any humans life is worth more than summiting Everest just to break a record....like making a phone call.
Or the sensation of accomplishment that one feels after descending.

I dont have the awnsers ......i just know theres a problem and it HAS TO BE SOLVED . VERY QUICKLY

Taking freedoms and prohibiting people doing stuff they wanted to do freely is a feature of another type of regime... I would not like for the state to decide instead of me what is best for me... And if they die up the mountain, they die, and it's their fault.
