He'll spend five years making three seasons of whatever- just because everything's getting three seasons, right now- but his contract will run out about the same time as Netflix really starts losing their edge, so that there will suddenly be less money to throw into projects, just to see if they stick. Benioff will disappear with the first round of hard cuts. A few years after that, we might hear about him writing the novelization for whatever the current blockbuster is. I actually think he might be good at that, given that his scene descriptions- things we never get to see- are better seen as prose.

Master storytellers? More like masturbating on story tellers. Will good actors & actresses want to work with these guys?

Let them make a series we can ignore. It will bomb. Disney and others can see that they are crap, and they won't be allowed anywhere near Star Wars.
I don't think this is the end of Netflix. They'll just drop them if they can't produce.

Don't know why more people aren't drawing the link between the fact that Benioff is both :
                      - one of the most economically/socially privileged people on the face of the Earth (Goldman Sachs CEO daddy)
                      - a writer pathologically incapable of critiquing or deconstructing how power functions and corrupts

This is not an accident. It is in his personal interests to undermine George's life work.

Love your work mate, really good investigative stuff.

Not sure how they keep getting major deals. They have shown they are capable of adapting good writing when they have the author helping them, but not writing anything good themselves:

Weiss - Only things he has written are GoT and one episode of It's Always Sunny. I don't want to start a GoT bashing, but I could noticeably see the difference between what was written for them and what they wrote and I found it lacking.
Beinofff - From what he has written I have seen GoT (same answer as above), Troy and X-Men Origins. Troy was a terrible representation of the actual story, but it was going for over the top Hollywood action so in that I guess it succeeded. X-Men... the less said about that terrible movie the better.

Maybe if people didn't praise their mediocre writing from seasons 5-7 they would have been forced to actually get better. But nope, they were told they were great when they were making terrible mistakes and wasting time with terrible dialogue for years. Why people though season 8 was going to be great when they were on a downhill trajectory I will never know.

It's like big media's hiring criteria is to employ people who are:
                              - Mediocre hacks
                              - Narcissistic (hence the poor reception and ignorance of criticism)
                              - Docile and would sell their own souls to please their corporate overlords agenda

If Netflix wanted a GoT sized project, they should've offered George R.R Martin a contract for a new project. Not these two!

That's top 5 best payed actors in Hollywood stuff. On the other hand.... even if they were delivering bad episodes they got people more and more interested.... Netflix isn't going for Oscars, they want viewership, D&D might deliver that whatever they make so don't underestimated the company, they might know what they're doing. They need a vast array of content, hell, they hired Adam Sandler.... some people, actually probably a lot are watching his movies and will watch D&D's

Moore even admitted on the podcast that he had to write Season 4 on the fly due to the 2008 Writer's Strike. While the ending could be considered lackluster to some, it kept the themes of the series: Science vs Belief, dangers of uncontrolled technology and the cyclical nature of historical events. As for the writing, the writers went out of their way to explain elements of the series that couldn't be added due time constraints (such as Sam Anders originally wrote and sang All Along The Watchtower, when he picked the guitar neck on Earth) in the podcast. While I understand your opinion, I respectfully disagree with it. Also please review who is the senior partner in D&D's relationship, to me Benioff is the Boss and leader and Weiss is just along for the ride like a F1 driver closely following him to get less air resistance.

Didn't Netflix see it as a Red Flag that their former employers hadn't locked them down with a new contract? Do they really think people love Game of Thrones so unconditionally that the B & B name alone will pay for itself? I like Netflix, and I'm bummed they did this. Taking good money and lighting it on fire is not a sustainable business model, and I'm afraid we'll look back at this being the beginning of the end for Netflix.

I for one thought the final series was great. It all made sense to me, the characters retained their complexity and the philosophical aspects were still present.
