    ℹ️About the episode:
Fulltime RV living has some drawbacks. RV service is one of them. In order to get timely service and avoid costly hotel bills, relentless coordination is needed with the RV dealer. This ensures they are expecting you and ready to begin service when you arrive. Lazy Days is not a partner of any kind, but they have been accommodating to our fulltime schedule both in Tampa and Knoxville.

The bigger issue is reservations. This season has had many obligations and events such as Disney, family meet-ups, kids school and annual events such as AirVenture. These events have kept us moving through the Heartland on a tight timeline and haven't helped or ability to get RV service completed.

**It's important to mention that we found Lazy Days to be professional and courteous on both occasions. There is only so much a dealer can do if the fridge is bad and the vendor won't approve swapping a new unit in a timely manner. If we didn't have a schedule to keep, this would be resolved by now. We still think Lazy Days is a good dealer and will go back... and we have zero affiliation.

How old is your rig? It needs a new fridge already? And tell the missus the truck drivers were paying a compliment. Not all of us need maced. LOL P.S. New to the channel.

@Marie Lange I had one of the best experiences I've ever had purchasing an RV from Lazy Days. Low pressure sales, and the service technician was very good. So far no complaints. However, I haven't had my RV in for any type of service so I'm not sure how they'll be then.

You're a better man than me. I personally have been to that Lazy Days and was not impressed. They should definitely have addressed your other concerns while waiting on the refrigerator. It is not your fault that the technician misdiagnosed the problem. They should have swapped out your whole refrigerator with one from their inventory. I have seen that particular dealer do such a thing in the recent past. We purchased our 5th wheel (Open Range 2502RE) from a smaller dealership intentionally because we have found that they are more concerned with customer satisfaction. Always demand to speak to a manager near where the new deals are done and don't be afraid to get a little loud. The manager won't want to lose business.

When you pull into the lot at Lazydays Knoxville to have warranty work or repairs done you immediately KNOW it's gonna take awhile and you may as well be resigned to that fact! They ARE overwhelmed with work and are just a tad short of employees. Good people tho!! And you guys (in this video) are a good example of how patience is exhibited and temper is restrained. Good job!!!

Sometimes the ammonia gets a minor clog in the tubes.
If your refrigerator doesn't work, tap on the cooling unit and it will usually start working again.
Never just assume that the unit needs replacement.
Sometimes just driving down the road will free it up and start it working again.

Also heard a lot of horror stories about lazy days especially their sales techniques. More disturbing is how many things on a brand new very expensive high end rig can be defective. Rvs come off the line and don’t even get safety inspected or quality inspected. Too bad quality of materials and workmanship is so poor these days. Kudos to you guys for your attitude. We have a 1996 with original propane fridge and every latch is original and still working properly. Good luck with your grand design. I’m sure glad I do my own work.

Man ive been an rv tech for quite a few years and Ive changed 1 cooling unit, and it happened to be the same fridge as the one you have lol. Sucked, and shouldnt be done. Mine worked tho haha, im just here to say out of the 100's of fridges ive replaced every single one that had a bad cooling unit, you just have to buy the whole fridge its way better that way. The cooling unit on the fridge is more than half the amount of the fridge. At that point you may as well buck up and buy a whole new fridge and everything will be brand new again. (not to say yours was not). Norcold is honestly the worst fridges out there Norcold Nevercold. These videos are pretty cool tho lol

I don't mind the size, but it's always on my mind when towing. 'Dealing' with the RV takes more time than a smaller RV, which can be a downside unless you really need the garage.

Things like this WILL happen and if you can't afford the extra expense of hotel stays, etc then you will really have a hard time not losing your sh!t. Trust me, I speak from experience. It's a LOT easier to roll with things like this if you don't have to worry about money.

This is making me wonder about buying a new RV in the future. They do seem to be built rather cheaply.......

Dometic did everything they could to not replace the fridge, finally in September they sent new fridge which when opened was broke. Finally in October bought residential and paid out of pocket for it and the install. Made 3 payments on trailer while sitting over a fridge. Grand Design and Dometic were not much help, very disappointed.

As fulltimers that was not fun. We’re now in our second round of repairs, but the factory has a much better repair process now. We take the rig in, in the morning, we get it back at night. We featured this in a series a couple years ago. We just made the best of the hotel rooms with the dogs. La Quinta allows dogs so that’s who we always stay with.

Why this company did not financially step-up and provide financial assistance during this break down for you & your family is piss-poor customer service, that much I know !! Maybe I missed something here but their product breaks down & hotel rooms, gas, food etc should not be the consumer's responsibility, especially "on the road break downs" with a Brand New RV 10 days old that just left you stranded in the middle of Nowhere !..... Sorry, but that's totally unexpectable ! You handle situations a lot calmer then I would have, cause I'd be beyond upset !! Someone in the chain of this RV sale (manufacturer, warranty company, sales lot, service center ) needs to sign a nice big FAT Check for all these unexpected break down bills that occured to you and your family plus all damages, I would not accept anything less, YET you describe the people involved in this situation as "Amazing" ? Wow !!!... I just don't get the positive attitude here cause there's nothing positive about the situation on what's happened or happening ?? Accordingly, I would be demanding a New RV Replacement as well and not just allowing them to try to instal ANOTHER Fridge AGAIN, OMG !! With that said, Your kindness and unflinching demeanour is doing yourself no favors here my friend !! Good Luck !!

If from the very start, then shame on GD and shame on the quality dept. at LD. When I purchased my TT my dealer encouraged me to spend a night and day on their pad with electricity and to test everything. They gave us their checklist with check marks but wanted us to double check everything. We tested the DVD player, the TV, boiled water in the micro, showered, baked cookies, closed every hatch, locker etc. ran ac, ran heater, you name it - everything and discovered one bad reading light. The next day we gave the punch list to their service dept. and they replaced the light. We left with no issues and never needed any work under warranty. We got lucky but you need to test everything 100% yourself before you sign and pull off the dealer lot...or get ready to get in line.

Keep updated and make sure the service provider knows you are there.
