You can't play without a base. For example you can't play Smite without downloading the base image first. There is no such a thing as a cap if it will destroy the broad width and band width within seconds, which is why this is more of a publicity stunt to force for the cost of the internet to go up.

Want there social justice agenda imposed on all games? Want to wait in a que to play your games ? You would be destroying PlayStation and independent computer gaming by supporting google an evil company

it wont happen... they cant group enough processing power to run 6 million people games.. + they'll have you paying for internet while playing single player games with they're service..

Thibault Molleman ok so 120$ a year which there will probably be a yearly subscription but we will assume the current price, so yea good for oh i want to just play a few games and you don’t even need to get the pro verizon so yeah it’s sounding good

They will, but it'll probably require that you have an active stadia Pro sub. (Destiny 2 is going f2p and will be on stadia, confirmed).
Keep in mind The advantage of stadia is that you don't need to buy a $500 console ever again and instead get access to a console in the cloud that gets upgraded every 2-3 years.
So that 10$/month sub is pretty fine tbh

@Trevor BMG i imagine they will. But thats probably the only way theyed get me. I already have established libraries with the switch and ps4 and steam. Then again im like... over 30. Im probably not relavent anymore and as far as google is concerned they may want my data for data sake, but my data has little value. I wonder if this is the feeling my parants had when they got older.... i dunno... i like new games, but i have no interest in streaming or merchendise or anything. If anything i just get more fatigued the instant i look at any merchendise at ganestop and twitter... tries to advertise and it just looks... like.... meh. Why not just wait till its on sale. Its like sony and nintedo are fighting over who can discount there games more. I feel like just waiting on everything except nintendo exclusives because the next month itll be like... a quarter. Or just play no mans sky because its practically like getting a brand new game for free every time it updates....

@iyaz akhtar eh. Im not saying it shouldnt exist but if everyone flocks to this enough it could kill off most of physical media and because its a seperate platform theyre probably going to request we buy final fantasy whatever for the 10th time at full price and im sick of re buying games ive played through at full price let alone a streaming service version that could evaperate super easily. . Sure this will get my laptop gamable... but i wont care unless theres a legit game that cant run on the switch. I would care more if it could be used for cr gaming because thats where the industry is actually struggling.

I think the idea of Stadia is better than what's been stated. Then again, the Xbox One was a mess during the announcement phase and eventually corrected over time.

You can also purchase the games if you don't want to pay the subscription. Similar to you downloading a game on console. Only thing that sucks is u never have a physical copy, but at least u have the option to buy to own it.

Google, jack of all trades, should be called Greed. This Stadia enterprise has not been thought through enough and it’s way ahead of its time to work. Xcloud by Microsoft is a much safer bet for game streaming nuts.

@Trevor BMG Nobody can dismiss a giant like Google but streaming video doesn't need anywhere near the bandwidth needed for accurate lag free gaming. I'd say, right now the World isn't ready. Some big cities perhaps. Personally I understand the convenience of game streaming as a concept but in practice there's still too many technical issues and the fact that games stored in the cloud can vanish or be removed whilst physical copies are yours forever. Last Phil Harrison seems more of a figure head than a real expert to me. I would assume his input in the Stadia project is close to zero. I hope to see Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft be involved in the gaming industry for a long time, competition is good.

@Harlock2day as for the internet issue. For sure some people will not be able to use the service, this applies to any streaming service.

With Google being an ISP and also having a service like YouTube, they are best placed than most to have an idea of the availability of good quality internet.

Also bare in mind that there are going to be games that can only be played on a server as consoles are limited.

@Harlock2day sure, not everyone needs to be on board to make a product.
A platform can be successful without exclusives. Keep in mind that stadia only has existed for a couple of years. So publishers hadn't set aside any games. Plus, exclusives on PlayStation Xbox make sense, because I already have a large user base. Stadia only is just coming on the scene, and doesn't have that userbase. So making a big triple exclusive for it would be insane

do know: they've already done a public test at people's own home. last year with project stream people could try assassins creed odyssey at home. And that was a year ago, so they've probably tweaked it even more by now.
Also, search "stadia digital foundry". They do very in-depth technical videos, and got an exclusive on stadia.
They tested the same latency as an xbox oneń (if you account for display latency, which is the correct way of measuring latency).
do note, while they were playing on a Google provided internet connection, they were still going over Wi-Fi on a Chromebook!

Stadia Base will release in 2020. People who bought Stadia (Pro) Founders Edition have access to Destiny 2. So no need to buy "full priced" game. I just can't understand why would game development cost go down if game is streamed. Maybe you can explain it to me?

I will never touch anything from Google that's gaming related. In the end, they'll not produce anything that has the best interest of the gaming community as a top priority. Even if Nintendo, XBOX, and Sony make mistakes they have a long history of supporting the gaming community with their products and price-points. No console? So Google owns my hardware. No downloads? So Google owns my games. No thank you.

Michael Marshall you can’t make that statement make sense despite how driven you are to supporting this Stadia trash lol, optionally owning a physical copy of a game has and will always have its upside. Even downloading the game to play before servers are killed off has its upside, hackers or not ANY player can “play” games pre-installed into their systems even after the company kills the servers. Spend many on a subscription and you’re left looking stupid with no saves and hours of invested time wasted. There is a difference and it’s an obvious one.

@KrissFliss that's if you are buying from Steam or another PC service. Much harder to pull the download from a console to a PC and play it. So you have to hack your console to play downloaded games if say Sony or MS shutdown. Even then if the license is pulled your download is rendered useless unless you hack the file to bypass DRM check. The average gamer are not hackers. If that is the case why buy the game in the first place? Just download a hacked torrent with the game.

If you're downloading games you already don't own them. You're just paying for a license to play them. Gotta love DRM.

I go through several areas where my signal drops and Play Music seems to be the only music app that preloads several songs while I have service. The other apps only have the current song loaded, so if I skip it in a bad signal area, I'm out of luck and just sit there in silence for a while. So I'm stuck with Play Music. Spotify is clearly better imo because of the Daily Mix playlists that it puts together, not just songs you've clicked like on. So that makes it easier to discover cool songs that you didn't know about. Play Music I guess you can pick a song you like and click Start Radio, that's as close as I've seen to Spotify personalized mix features.

I'm actually a PC player who's going to switch to stadia. personally, i always found it hard to justify to the newest graphics card every 2 years. So I was always a bit behind even though I did kind of WANT the newest graphics. And even my CPU today's day is a 2nd gen core i7.

I'm going to stop upgrading my gaming pc once I get my founders edition for stadia in november. Stadia is going to be more convenient and gets a graphics upgrade every 2-3 years. it's the future of gaming really.
But i'll still have my current gaming PC around to play my existing library of Steam games

If you buy it then all the money-grabbing companies will follow its stupid subscription scheme and you will not be able to own your game in the future. You really want that? @Thomas Kulik I think you didn't understand my comment. I mean Virtual Reality (VR) that is VERY latency sensitive because you might get seasick otherwise. VR is not coming to Stadia or any other game streaming service anytime soon. So if you want to play VR games you still need a PC or a game console because those games won't be available for streaming.

@wanton7 You still need a pc or a chromebook but you do not need a console. The chromecast device hooks up to your tv if you want to play on your tv but no console is required.

I don't really care about VR but Stadia won't be supporting it any time soon. So any one who is in to that stuff still needs a PC or gaming console.

No, because that defeats the purpose.
The advantage about stadia is that you don't need to buy a $500 console ever again and instead get access to a console in the cloud that gets upgraded every 2-3 years. and you don't need to pay for online play acces since that's included
You just buy a game on stadia and you can play it whenever without needing a subscription. the Stadia Pro subscription is only really meant for people who want 4K quality and a free game every month
